Talking WarTime & More With WizKids @ Gen Con 2017

We sat down to talk about the game that intrigued us a little while back on the Weekender, WarTime, with WizKids.

This game has you playing quick and frantic games simulating the chaos and flurry of battle. It certainly sounds like a different way of playing. What do you think of the look of the game and the premise?

As well as WarTime we get a little chat about some of the other games they have here right now you might want to go and take a closer look at.

Interesting concept not sure if it’ll be fun in practice.

I hadn’t even heard there was a Tomb of Annihilation board game, good find. War Time reminds me of a Moba and ability cool downs, could be interesting. Dungeon Hustle sounds very fun.

Not my idea of something I’d like to play but glad to see people trying to innovate game-play.

Wartime is one of the games that has me really interested, hope to get my hands on a copy sometime soon. I also will def be picking up Tomb of Annihilation as I love all those d&d games. I think I might go for a painted version if I can find one and it looks ok.

Novel mechanic seems a little frantic for my taste. I enjoy a good banter during my games. I reckon all the sand timers would have run out before any of us were ready to activate. That said I do think this system would lend itself well to a single combat game.

A lot of different sounding mechanics there. I think I’m going to have to pick up a copy of Wartime I do like the look and sound of it.

Very different. Can see lots of arguments if timers are running out around the same time and lots of knocking over if timers if your stretching across the board

Those are some very clever mechanics!

When I first heard about war time I thought it was going to be pure chaos but i’m now interested, yet another game for the watch list

I’m not sure what I think of this. I’m putting this in the try first, but very interesting.

I think Wartime would be great for that guy in everyone’s gaming group that Analysis Paralysis’s all the time. I think the first 2 or 3 games would be confusing, but after that it would be pretty cool.

Sand timers never work, they clog or just aren’t accurate, why not go digital timers?

I like the cooldown element of that game but I can’t help but think is going to break pretty quickly when everyones hand are in the way at the same time or timers get knocked over.

Wartaime sound very very interesting! No time to think for hours for your opponent (or yourself…).
The Witching Hour sounds good, too.
