New 40K Primaris Space Marines & Codices Now Available To Pre-Order
August 5, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop has now added some new Primaris Space Marines to their webstore for you to pre-order for Warhammer 40,000 plus some new Codices for the Chaos Space Marines and the Grey Knights.
Leading the way we have the Primaris Intercessors who are now available as a multipart plastic kit. As well as the variants for the various Bolt Rifles you also get their Grenade Launchers and much more to start taking your Space Marine army to the next level.
Talking of heavy duty weapons they also have the Hellblaster Squad with their plasma weapons at the ready, turning enemies into slag.
As we talked about on the Weekender today we're really liking the posing of these models with their choice of weaponry and swapping out of guns for some of their sidearms. Now you just to make sure that you have your bitz box at hand so you can start to get more Chapter specific accessories thrown into the mix.
Codex Time
As we mentioned earlier in the week we also have two new Codices for you to check out with Codex Chaos Space Marines...
...and the Grey Knights. If you're interested in finding out more about both of these books you can actually watch an interview we did with Jes Bickham from Games Workshop on the Weekender show HERE.
Some of the other options for both traitors and mighty paladins include the Data Cards for each army allowing you to avoid having to dive into the Codex very often in order to pick out objectives, psychic powers, specifical special rules and more.
These are actually quite interesting and a nice handy additional accessory to play around with when it comes to your games. We'll avoid going too deep into all of this as we've already talked about this release quite a lot but make sure to head on over to the webstore if these armies take your fancy.
Which faction are you playing as?

These two kits seem pretty solid.
Anyone know if we are going to see a Lieutenant kit at some point?
Before Christmas I’ve been told by a tame sales rep
How do you go about taming a Sales Rep?? Just curious. Every time I approach mine with a whip and chair he either runs away or does something totally unreasonable like call the police. ……………*sigh ………I really want a tame sales rep too 🙁
be careful … good sales reps are never tamed completely.
Some have been known to play tame until the addiction has set in.
Thank you for the warning …. I shall be mindful of that……maybe I will have to go the route of compromising pictures or threats to beloved family members … hmmmmmm
I (unbelievably.. if you had anything to do with me longer than 3 months ago) am really getting into 40k at the moment. I am considering building a army based on the Rift Stalkers (a Raven Guard Primarius Founding Chapter) as their armour is largely white, and that is a colour I am setting myself to learn how to paint properly. A box of these lads will be a nice starting project
I have sort of the same thing.
I never thought I could get into 40k, because other systems looked so much better.
However with the rules as they are now and the plastic kits that were in Dark Imperium it is kind of hard to resist buying more stuff.
I am kind of trying to use it as a reward for when I finish painting the contents of that box.
It is getting hard to resist though, because these new primaris models look soo good.
I do dig those multi part Primars kits. From what we have seen about those two codices there is lot of interesting things between those old art using covers. I just can’t get over that GK gets rules for Grandmaster on Dreadknight that doesn’t have model when new SM codex didn’t have rules for Kor’sarro Khan on bike that’s similar case.
Most likely a future release.
I doubt that considering that new WD has instruction how to convert and paint one.
And where is that Imperial Fists picture…was that a click bait?
they are off to the procession ?
here’s the link @ivan Lol

Abaddon looks like a gnome next to these new Primaris 🙂
…well … it is to be expected …… heh heh heh ….. currently thinking of how I can get to the black legion army player’s minis and put a pointed red cap over that ridiculous top knot …. heee…… such fun …. 😀 …. (thank you for the comment .. It has such comic potential)
Oi! Careful there, lass. Don’t slip on something you dropping.
Nothing against the venerable fantasy topknot! It’s a masterful indicator for a hard and business meaning attitude with a serious claim for dominance but above that a deep running sense for style and elegance.
And Abbadon’s one simply epitomizes the 90s’ miniature fiction goodness. Hell, that Codex Cover is so great. That was an incredibly good era.
Well I did hear rumor that he is getting new model at some point. Maybe that possible new model will bigger.
A codex release without any new models is a disappointment and we are proabably years away from getting Primaris Grey Knights : (
After seeing nothing but Primaris the last few weeks, those older Grey Knights models look like they’ve been badly resized – all squashed and dwarfish in stature. Not sure if that’s what GW were planning, but “old power armour” now looks “wrong”. Surprised there’s no mini releases at all announced for CSM – Not even a new renegade character to compliment them – maybe a remaster of Huron, or someone to compliment him – a named undivided Sorcerer or something. Is it just me that thinks this new focus on Imperium vs Chaos has been fairly Imperium heavy so far?… Read more »
It is indeed more than a bit Imperium/Primaris heavy at the moment.
I kind of hope it’s because they want that part of the faction done to the point that they can be their own army.
I can’t help but think that the only reason Nurgle got anything was because those figures were in the Dark Imperium set.
Other factions definitely need an update to their infantry and other models too.
OTOH … at least everyone has up-to-date datacards for the existing models. That at least is better than the AoS release schedule.
they do look good but have to many standard marines to go nut for them.
Here’s some shiny new codexes for Chaos Space Marines and Grey Knights and to go with them… some more bloody Primaris Marines…
Enough now please.
Yep since the new rules drop it has just been spacecast, spacecast, spacecast …………….. Wow deja vu 😉
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Spacecast minis but to release more of them alongside two completely different codexes is just a kick in the teeth for those players. Even one new release each for GK and CSM (Grand Master in Dreadknight conversion sprue and the plastic Chosen / Havocs kit that was rumoured for release about 3 years ago perhaps) would have made it more of a happy event and less of a “great, now I have to buy another book” experience.
There was a rumour floating around on another website of a new Abaddon model sometime soon but I’d take that with a grain of salt as I can’t see both him and Mortarion being released that close to each other …. but I could be wrong. ( and yeah I like the Spacecasts too …. they bought me back to 40k)
They look like all the other ones. Am I missing something? I liked the recent non-bell bottom release.
nope. These are simply two tactical squads with a different set of weapon options.
The ‘non-bell bottom’ variants are the Primaris version of scouts.
Really impressed with the mini’s, just have more weapon options on my personal wishlist if the Primaris Marines ( and the same goes for the Redemptor ) are to end up replacing the older Marines and dreads as my codex army. I’ll be getting the GK ‘dex as soon as i can.
I guess it’s good they released these units but I am rather let down that CSM and GK got nothing new. Not a single thing sort of sucks. I truly do hate space marines. Not because of anything they as a army have or the role they fill but rather because of GW’s bloody obsession with everything marine. It get so tired of them. I never play them yet I can field an entire army with all the SM I get from every new edition starter box. And for the most part, they don’t really change much even from 3rd… Read more »
