Get A Glimpse Of Beorn From Desolation of Smaug! [Spoilers!!!]
October 5, 2013 by brennon
If you didn't heed the title to this post and you still get annoyed that you've seen him I can't do much for you! The One Ring.net has managed to find an image of Beorn from Desolation of Smaug and he is looking rather awesome...
Our first look at Beorn had come in this teaser for the first film where Gandalf was conversing the Beorn. This didn't give us much to go on since, well, it's just a bear. Then we saw him in the teaser trailer for the second film and had a sneaky look at him in the main one too. Well, here is what he really looks like in human form...
Now as you can see he has the ridge of high hair that we had thought he possessed and he has those rather wicked mutton chops too. I like the look of him so far as he has kept a lot of the 'bear' about him in this form.
Mikael Persbrandt is a mega actor and I reckon he is going to bring some fearsome personality to the part of Beorn. It should be awesome seeing how his interaction with the Dwarves and the Hobbit Bilbo plays out on the screen later on this year.
Are you digging his look?

looks too much like Wolverine’s brother for me 😛
But suitably ursine.
What do you mean, JUST a bear? Bears are AWESOME! lol
Does look a little more catty than beary :/
Seeing as gw produces hobbit products it might make sense to ignore all other hobbit related products. Going by their own reasoning …
I’m fairly sure we’re safe on this one lol. It’s a massive bear man who actually looks pretty epic!
BoW Ben
Yeah, they’re licensees, as opposed to the copyright/intellectual property right holders, etc. Pretty sure that’s New Line Cinemas, right?
As i said, going by the reasoning of GW themselves … It would make sense
Is easy enough not to read the GW Hobbit articles though that would be rude to ignore Ben and Sam imho
I wouldn’t buy the products though, especially when the Knight Models line looks like knocking GW’s sculpts into Mount Doom
And to be honest I still have 70 odd email notifications about GW to wade through or delete. It is a relaxing silent pool here, away from the torrential flash flood
Please can we keep it GW free lol
As I mentioned elsewhere, Middle-earth was where my interest in fantasy books, films, minis and gaming started, long before most of you were born. GW have the licence for the movie-related stuff so we are stuck with that situation. With some regret, I have only bought 1 boxed set from the entire Hobbit movie. While many of the other minis are fine, the expense makes them less attractive, and besides, I have plenty of the LotR minis to work on for years. As for this Beorn, I think it is ok – I would not rush to judge on the… Read more »
NOOOOO not Tina Turner’s Beyond Thunderdome role. Now I’ll never look at this guy the same 🙁
Persbrandt is indeed an awesome actor … will be interesting to see how he pulls this off
This just keeps getting worse and worse for me. Dont like it one bit. Hay Peter the 80s phoned and guess what, they want their wardrobe back. Almost as crappy looking as the mankini wearing, Garry Glitter worshiping Orcs from the first movie.
Looks more like Liono than Beorn.
Actually the only thing I don’t get is the shaved/waxed chest
Is too much a nod to current trends
To balance that, it would be easy to have a hairy Beorn with full beard hair on neck and back.
I kind of like that the designers have not gone with the obvious, and still see the ursine nature of Beorn.
So, Beorn is Chuck Norris meets David Bowie?
:s
Just a little rewind to the previous trailer
Wow!
