Bolt Action Unboxing: Mk III Armadillo

Prepare to roll out with John and Gianna as we take a look at the MK III Armadillo for Bolt Action from Warlord Games.
The Armadillo was an improvised armoured truck used during the first years of the war by the RAF to protect aerodromes and also used by the Home Guard.
The truck bed had a wooden "fort" installed, which wouldn't have inspired much confidence from the crew, however, their intended use was always to be as a mobile unit encountering lightly equipped enemies in the event of a German invasion.
Have you used the Armadillo units in a game?
With the Armadillo, I would assume that with it’s intention being more of a rapid response to paratroopers, there wouldn’t be as much in the way of heavier weapons, the bigger gun was intended to deal pretty much scare off aircraft while the others were to go through the paratroopers who wouldn’t be, theoretically, as heavily armed from the fort where they would be safer. Though, I kind of like the idea of adding more gunners inside the fort so that they’d be driving around with all guns going…no matter how destructive it would be, I don’t think many forces… Read more »
I loved the concrete version at Bov
If it was designed to protect airfields or as an anti-air drop vehicle, then maybe the idea behind the fort was anti-shrapnel from bombs.
A direct or near miss would most likely destroy it either way, but the wood would absorb most shrapnel, and small arms fire.
Im hoping we’ll be getting a good look at these incoming Australian bundles?

Goes to prove the old maxim beggars can’t be choosers – or if you need to stop some paratroopers in route down on you airfield, I guess you be happy with your “fort”
