The Landsknechts Form Up In Regiments From Warlord Games
July 11, 2017 by brennon
We saw previews of these a couple of weeks ago but we now have new plastic Landsknecht Soldiers massing from Warlord Games, ready to aid your armies in Pike & Shotte.
The new set comes with enough models for you to make either thirty Pikemen or assemble them differently with twenty-four pikemen and five arquebusiers. You will also get your hands on options for a command element as well which you can use to lead your warriors into battle.
These soldiers are mercenaries ready to fight for those that, well, pay them well!
Famous Faces
As well as the new plastic models we also have some new sets of heroes including Kaiser Maximillian I both as a young man and as an old fellow.
If this fellow doesn't quite meet your requirements we also have Gottfried “Götz” von Berlichingen & Georg von Frundsberg who were key members of the Landsknecht.
You can also get a set of Landsknecht Officers to help lead the way too. If your soldiers are in need of a morale boost this would be where it comes from.
Are you tempted by these characters and the soldiers that rally around them? This really does open all manner of fascinating painting opportunities and an end to all those drab colours you've been working on.
What do you think?

I had a brief flirtation with Pike and Shotte some yeras ago ……. this almost tempts me to have another look …. really nice models
About 10 years too late to look great in my Warhammer Empire army.
And me. Mind you I’ve still got a mountain of GW minis that would look great in my Empire army.
Always loved the historical look that GW’s Empire was based on. But never knew much (and still know very little) about the period.
Would be interested if anyone can recommend me a Wargame book (by Warlord or anyone else) that would serve as a good introduction to this genre / setting / period.
Pikemen’s Lament by Osprey games is a quick and inexpensive ruleset that would work with this range of minis.
Well here’s a good start

I’d also recommend Renaissance Armies, 1480-1650 by George Gush. Its definitely “old school”, but makes a good primer for the period for wargamers. Its out of print now, but if you hunt around, you can usually pick up a copy for under a tenner 🙂
Those are nice take on Maximillian I and his men.
Nice to see them finally being released
Any books on the Italian wars would cover the main landsknecht period
