Prepare For Reaper Bones 4 Coming In August!
July 8, 2017 by brennon
As if the mountains of plastic models you had from Reaper Miniatures wasn't enough, they are coming back to Kickstarter in August for Reaper Bones 4!
As you can see we're already getting a look at a massive Dragon making its way into the mix for this Kickstarter. I'm sure we're in for quite a treat for this one and I can't wait to see what's in the pipeline.
Will you be following this?

I have missed all the other three Bones, so I might keep an extra eye on this one. I like the work of several of Reapers commonly used sculptors, especially Julies´.
Damned, there goes some of my money again!
I knew it was coming though, i’m kinda hoping it doesn’t call to me, i have already so much minis!
Bones 3 was the best in terms of product quality: multi-parts models were easy to assemble, not too many mold lines and those that were there were not hard to remove like some in Bones 1. They remade the Fire & Frost Giants plus made 1 or 2 new others and let me say that they are AWESOME and are TALLER than those from bones 2.
Nah, I’m good on cheap Chinese rubber toys.. The poor quality really isn’t offset by the price enough for me to back again.. Especially since I’ve also got a bunch of CMoN fantasy pieces.. which are similarly priced, better quality, and even have a game with them.
a fantastic looking zombie dragon.
Woo hoo! More cheap heavy hitters to flesh out my heavy infantry units. Those who cast a disparaging eye upon them have probably never bought any. They hold great detail, as you’ll see in an upcoming series. My only complaint would be that sometimes the weapons need to be replaced, particularly swords and spears on man-sized models, but the material is so easy to work with it doesn’t take long. Also, you need a really sharp blade to pare off the mould lines… if there are any.
BTW @4tonmantis , I believe they’re made in Texas these days.
The bottom of the miniatures says made in China.
There is a discussion and timeline here. Work on the factory started in early 2013, so I’m guessing it’s done.

Also from Nerd HQ in 2013:
“In addition to helping Reaper expand the line exponentially, the additional money also allowed Reaper to move the production of the new Bones line from China to their own facilities in Texas. They’ve built a new warehouse space and have gotten the equipment to produce these plastic little marvels right here in the good ol’ USA”
From the recent Kickstarter:
“We have confirmation that the final container has left port in Hong Kong, and is on its way to the Port of Los Angeles.”

I don’t know what their future plans are, but in 2015 they outsourced production to China.
I should have done what I always do when I see your walls of inane right-fighting text…
… and we’re unsubscribed.
Lol. Adios
I really wish Reaper would switch to a firmer, less rubbery plastic. The few Bones I’ve picked up felt too cheap and bendy for my tastes.
Love Bones minis. Missed out on Bones 2 and 3 so will likely jump in on this one.
I find them particularly useful for D&D where you don’t need too many of a specific bad guy but need lots of different ones. The larger minis are particularly nice and loads cheaper than buying similar resin or plastic minis from other companies.
That Zombie Dragon will fit in nicely with some Flesh Eater Courts for AoS.
A zombie dragon ?
*gggg*
ok … keep calm … think of that gigantic dragon that those mythic guys are doing for their game.
yes … that’s it … breathe …
but but but … it’s a zombie … and a dragon!
I mean that’s like *squee*
I like Bones. The cheapness of the minis lowers the “expectation bar” to paint them and for me that makes it so much more enjoyable than painting those expensive minis that I feel I have to excell at, which gives stress as I am not all that good. I paint/hobby to relax after all. Don’t need any more stress, get enought of that at work thank you very much. They have improved both the plastic and the details quite a lot from bones 1 to bones 2, and from what I hear, to bones 3. Reports are mostly positive. Even… Read more »
You’re doing yourself a disservice there. I see your stuff on the WAYPN threads and you’re not a bad painter.
I just got my Bones 3 pledge and I have mixed feelings on them. I think on balance it still represents value for money but the material isn’t what I was expecting. It’s a PVC based plastic and the detail isn’t as high as the metal counterparts. Some components are also bent and misshapen which is easy enough to fix but when you have as many models as you get in the Bones pledge it can be a bit of a chore. I will probably back bones 4 but I might go for a $1 pledge and then just buy… Read more »
I f that sounds a bit negative, I will say this. If you play RPGs and you want to play with miniatures a Reaper Bones basic pledge is a fantastic way to build up a collection
I’ll make sure I post a few extra detailed Bones models on the supporting thread of an upcoming series, just to show that they do hold detail. Where they don’t, their metal counterparts don’t either.
I know what they’re like, I have the Bones 3 pledge. I was impressed by the volume of stuff, not so much by the quality. I’ve seen better quality PVC miniatures. The Reaper bones miniatures aren’t bad miniatures, they’re just not great miniatures.
The larger, monster models are very good. It’s the smaller ones that I think suffer.
