Seems like a solid upgrade system in which every person/monster in your warband can get better; Even bring a low level henchman into a hero. Looking fwd to seeing those dogs rendered!
I like the Legacy system, but way to cheat on the Terror , Justin. I know it’s only a proxy but that figure is roughly 80 mm x 100 mm. Why not pick the snake or the other big gribbly from Conan? Those are closer to the required 60 mm base size.
This is a must for a game like this I think. I’m looking forward to getting it! We’re going all in here!
What is meant by ‘Legacy’ in the campaign system? It’s a term which in the board gaming world has taken on a specific meaning in the last few years, and which doesn’t appear to be being used in the same way in LotFR.
OK I’m a little concerned here. The starter sets looks great, but when we’re talking of forces up to 30 minis … what sort of costs can I expect to pay for these dozens of henchmen?
I really like the legacy idea. Looking foward to Justin and Johns match
I am confused naming it a Legacy system seems like it’s just trying to get on the hype train. This sounds more like a detailed campaign system with actual loss and gains. At anytime one could easily just reset the campaign and there are no components that are either destroyed or removed permanently from the game (can you imagine that with an actual mini?). This seems to be using legacy in the same sense as Gloomhaven did (which is so massive and hard to parse through only time will tell if it actually is). The ‘Legacy system’ described here has… Read more »
Cool!
Despite what some boardgames would have us believe “Legacy” is defined as :
Definition of legacy
plural legacies
1
: a gift by will especially of money or other personal property : bequest She left us a legacy of a million dollars.
2
: something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past the legacy of the ancient philosophers The war left a legacy of pain and suffering.

Legacy seem well named for a campaign system
It is forming the game and game world leaving your legacy upon it
Legacy has a specific meaning in tabletop gaming, so you need to be careful on how you use it to manage the expectations of your consumers. If there are no legacy elements in the LotFR campaign system, then it’s just a campaign system of the kind that has been in tabletop gaming for decades. Which is not to diminish it by using ‘just,’ as a campaign system is a great feature and stands up being called as such. Adding legacy to it risks being confusing for no benefit.
A good comparison is the word ‘theory’, which has a specific meaning in science, even if it has a broader useage in the wider world.
Great addition, those additions is something we’re always looking for in our gaminggroup. I lost the count how many games of Mordheim and Frostgrave have been played while we’re expanding and leveling our warbands! Great addition guys!
Cheers
Finishing with 107000 and a great finish to one of the great kickstarter campaigns. Now I can’t wait to get it!
Sounds interesting. I haven’t played a table top game with progression in it yet, looking forward to it..
