Meet The Stark’s Sworn Swords In CMON’s A Song Of Ice & Fire
June 15, 2017 by brennon
CMON are previewing more of the models that make up the A Song Of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game which is coming to Kickstarter later this year. The latest previews showed off the Sworn Swords of the Starks under the Wolf King, Robb Stark.
These Sworn Swords are those that more most fiercely loyal to the Wolf King and his revenge against the Lannisters for the death of his father.
Unwavering and unyielding in battle they will follow their King into the thick of the action and form the backbone of your Stark force on the tabletop.
I really like the look of the models for the Starks as they've captured that Northern feel to their attire. All of their armour looks fit for purpose and battle-ready, no pomp or ceremony here. It's good to see a mix of weapon, shield and armour designs thrown in there too showing that they've come from all over the North.
The Wolf King
Of course leading them is also Robb Stark himself who has also been shown off in render form.
If these images are getting you excited for the prospect of A Song Of Ice & Fire on the tabletop then watch this space for a demo game in the near future from Dawn & Gianna.
Will you be siding with the Starks?

This looks to be a beautiful looking game so far.
great looking figures.
I like them.
On an aside, I find these IPs from books, tv and film a double edged sword. On the one hand the miniatures and games tend to be good to great. On the other hand the longevity of the game as a mainstay and primary focus of the companies making them tends to rise and fall with the books, tv series and / or films.
And there is another ‘problem’ : the fact that it is ‘official’ means that there’s often people who will complain about anything that isn’t exactly like the source material.
You can bet that there will be a lot of armchair generals complaining about how certain aspects don’t match what they believe the character/army should act like.
Do think that’s a particular complaint for ‘official’ game adaptions? I think that Games Workshop have also had that complaint directed at their armies.
I would not worry about the interest tanking like the lord of the rings. HBO have said they will be making spin offs and prequels to the current game of thrones show, so it will be innthe public eye for at least the next 10 years. Lord ofbthe rings ended after 3

The LoTR movies might only have lasted a few years, but the books they were based on inspired generations of gamers …
One could even say that this hobby of ours wouldn’t even exist if a few fans didn’t create the rules for what eventually became D&D.
It is at this point that we also need to remind people that GoT is inspired by the ‘war of the roses’ in British history.
It may well be that the interest for the A Song Of Ice And Fire ( ASOIAF, it’s based on the books not series ) game lasts longer than the interest for the Lord of the Rings game because of the spin off series, but that this will provide sustained support ( of perhaps even production ) of the miniatures range for the original series does not necessarily follow. The spin off series might be set in a different time and / or place than the original series, and this could mean, as it effectively did for the Lord of… Read more »
Just another range of medieval men at arms really :/
Those do look good. Seems like they are going direction of books that line is named after rather than direction of popular TV-series based on those books.
Well it is A Song of Ice and Fire, not Game of Thrones, so that makes sense.
Nothing here that makes me not want to jump all over this. Minis are fantastic.
Great looking minis!
I have to disagree. These models look nothing like the pictures besides them.. the details are all wrong.
Very disappointed.
The helms are just egg shaped and lack the “northern feel”. The helms on the models look nothing like the pictures besides them.
They come with chunky chainmail instead of the fine chainmail of the pics and their cloth/wool sections lack any detail.
Check out the Perry minis English army from 1415 box set on how medieavl infantry figures should look (in plastic).
To be fair, I think they accidentally swapped the pics/model shot for the last two Men at Arms. As for realism, I have seen playthroughs of this game and it’s basically CMON’s jump at getting into the Warhammer Fantasy vacuum that’s been invaded by the likes of Kings of War, Runewars, etc. So compared to Perry minis(which are in hard plastic like Warlord/GW) they would probably compare unfavorably, especially since these will be one piece PVC soft plastics like the rest of CMON’s line of miniature board games. Possibly Dark Sword’s traditional metal figures would be more to your liking?
They are not one piece minis. They are multi part but pre assembled.
Personally, I do not rate the perry range very highly. I still think that the average sculpt quality of historical miniatures is not as good as the sci-fi, fantasy and steampunk market.
Having seen some painted units from this game I am happy with the quality. Maybe not blown away, but I like some way better than other ranges. The Kensei range is my favourite historical minis, but they are in a fantasy setting.
This is all opinion in any case and I am not saying other ranges are without merit, just not for me.
My comment was more to do with which details of the pictures are picked out by the sculpts. It seems like the detail is all concentrated on the chainmail, I would like to see more detail on the gambesons and more detailed helmets as these contribute to the unique “northern” look.
That said, I think the Rob Stark figure looks great.
What scale are they?? If it’s 28mm I have my war band for SAGA 🙂
The fact that C’mon have partnered with Dark Sword to make this makes me optimistic they will pull something really nice out of the bag. Dark Sword have been producing G.R.R. Martin Masterworks for a number of years, I own Jon and Arya and can attest to their quality.
Dark Sword’s involvement is in approving the sculpts. The sculpting and production is by CMON.
i’m in on this if this the mini quality
I will be keeping an eye on this for sure. After all I do love the IP..
However, the minis aren’t overly impressive imho. I might stick to Fireforge and Frostgrave plastics for the time being.
They look nice and can fit into any army that looks like them.

Wow. Is it me or on the cover art, Rob Stark and Jamie Lannister look like twins? Plot spolier from the next season of games of thrones or art recycling?
