Warhammer 40K 8th Edition Is Up For Pre-Order!

Games Workshop just opened up per-orders for the latest edition of Warhammer 40K! If you have been watching our coverage of UK Games Expo you would have seen our demo game that Justin and Simon from GW played, as well as the seminar from GW from yesterday afternoon.

So, far the response has been pretty positive and I even have seen a couple of comments that this edition may bring some back into the fold.

Besides the two-player starter set, they are offering a limited edition collector's set.

A very exciting time for Warhammer 40k players, so you better jump on this right away! It will be available in stores on June 17.

Are you ordering 8th edition?

After watching an unboxing video and looking at this. This is a pretty nice looking starter set. Haven’t played 40k since 2e. Do I get involved again?! Decisions, decisions….

Pay day for me is Tuesday, but have already pre-filled my cart is 8th Edition goodness. 7th Ed got WAY too bloated and I’ve been really impressed with the clean sweep approach they’re taking this time.

no, just haven’t got the money to throw at it – just getting the rulebooks for the old armies I’ve got in a cupboard at home will be over £100 before looking at any models I’d need to buy since I’m expecting the rules to make it viable only to play with the “new shiny toys” instead of any older models you may own

We’ll be ordering. Have not long returned to Warhammer after a couple of years away (Having a cracking time painting up) this is perfect timing for an updated edition to come out.

It might be a more playable version, but the two starting armies aren’t for me.

The minis are pretty and GW are doing some beautiful box art to wrap everything up nicely but I still can’t bring myself to take the plunge. Maybe a demo game would’ve swung it for me…

This is literally the first time I’ve ever pre-ordered anything. I’m usually far too cynical for that level of excitement. I wait until stuff I want has been released, then wait a bit longer to see if it’s well received.

8th edition/the primaris release has been the first thing GW have done in a really long time that’s really got their hooks into me.

The new GW are getting stuff right. And that’s coming from someone who was super cynical about AoS.

My family and I went to the warhammer shop for demo and painting. Ended up buying age of sigmar for my 13 year old daughter as a birthday present. I am delighted as she normally has little interest in anything but her iPhone. Had a great time there.

So 6th and 7th Edition had Dark Vengeance, and 8th has this one.
Besides the book, I find that if you’re not a Primaris Marines fan nor a Nurgle fan… this box leaves a lot to be desired. It’s possible to be a fan of the plague cultists as a “zombies” sort of thing and still not be a fan of the Plague Marines. They’re all great sculpts. (I don’t know how effective the Ork Chain Choppa is without a powerfield?)

Here we are on day two. I’m still taking a stab at trying to win so forgive this shameless post as I’m going after either the 4Ground stuff or the Bushido stuff. I play Bushido here in the states. I teach it to whoever will listen, and I just try and represent it as it is. The best miniature game I’ve played.
