Great set of shows. Back in the day I used to make boards out of paper mache!! I imagine these boards would be a fraction of the weight!
There is still a fair degree of weight to them.
MDF is actually quite heavy, we are thinking about lighter (and cheaper) alternatives at the moment.
And the magimix adds a fair amount of weight to the overall board too.
We haven’t done anything with paper mache in along time, but its a great technique and I’ll see if we can squeeze it into a future project!
Good vid, fun to watch.
They are very fun to make too, certainly the thing myself and Lloyd enjoy most 🙂
A couple things… First: use a roller to spread the glue as thinly as possible before putting it in place. You will use far less glue, and the hold will be better. Second: Place the piece in advance and use either painters tape to mark out the edges at a couple points or, preferably, set some 3 dimensional placement pieces down with tape. Very Good Tips!
Citadel Battle mats 🙁 I wish someone else would bring one out.
I can’t imagine it will be too long before someone else comes out with them!
Yeah not much of a commercial gamble especially with all the free publicity created by taking them off sale in the first place.
It’s called a sanding drum…
You can also use a coarse file or rasp for pretty much the same effect. Much less fine dust, and not a big difference in the end result because it’s going to be covered with paint, glue and flock anyways.
Hey guys
I have seen parts 1 & 2 of your terrain making series but cant find any more. Did you do any more parts and if so where can I find them please?
Thanks
These are great vids. I am thrilled to se an alternative to the PVA glue then smother everything in sand.
I am trying to make a FOW board right now and the sand didn’t go over the glue very well and I think I need to scrape it off and try again.
Wish I had seen these before i started.
Looking forward to part 3 when you get more settled in Ireland.
Great set of videos! I’ll have to have a go, thanks 🙂
doesnt load and yes im a backstager
