Time for another great demo game of DreadBall! This time however James has bought in a copy of DreadBall Ultimate to play so Justin and Warren have rushed to join him in the studio. It looks to be the next great evolution of DreadBall and will give you loads more fun. The only question is will the guys over at Mantic towers be breaking this out for tournament play?

Ehhh? Coming up with an error on youtube :/
Nope, working now. Wooo lol
Really fun game to watch.
Love that James brought out an unfinished prototype to show off. It’s cool to see a company that’s confident enough in their product (in this case, the gameplay) to show you the pre-production model.
I was a little worried about the larger games, but this video has convinced me to pick up season three when it’s available. I’m hoping I can turn the multiplayer melee into the gateway game for a group of friends who have previously kind of avoided two-player games.
I also didn’t bother shaving. It’s all part of the package.
I’m not sure the shaving status of the package would have been appropriate in the video, really.
This. This is the kind of ‘behind the scenes’ things BoW is great at doing.
That looks absolutely bonkers. James, please make sure the Season 3 box for the somegeezer bunker is near the door!
It’s a fix… Somebody else needs to start winning things. lol ;-p
well the zzor striker is speed 6 but cant actually sprint out of reserves iirc so wouldnt have been in position to actually score that 3 pointer.
otherwise though looks interesting and cant wait to play a 3 player game
not sure if the giants are worth it though as you can put no88 up against one for half the cost and he will hold them up all day long.
You’re half right – the Striker is indeed movement 6 (d’oh, I got my Jack and Striker mixed up – first time playing Z’zor, can you tell?) but you can indeed sprint on from the subs’ bench. So I totally was in position. 😛
Another fantastic video – I have this coming off the Kickstarter so really looking forward to it. The Alpha Simian and Big Mech look great and I love the diversity of attributes among the teams and the extra chaos that the cards and coaching dice add.
Can I ask if Ultimate will be using the new ball launching rules?
Looks great by the way. If I hadn’t already ordered a copy I would have after watching this.
James et all should be confident, DreadBall Rocks and its always had that edgy fun beer and whatever feel to it. Exploding 6s and the chance of extra actions gives it the fun edge.
Fitsly, I can’t wait to get my copies of Dreadball Ultimate that I have pre-ordered from Mantic Games and I hope as i type this james is in the warehouse with Mark and the rest of the gang putting the late arriving counters and cards into the boxes so that it can all be shipped my way 🙂 Now I’m NOT a Rules Monkey (or should that be Rules Zee now)? However I noticed a few “mistakes” during the video that I’ve listed below. I’d just like to know if they were mistakes bought on by excitement (which is understandable)… Read more »
Hello! Yeah, those were excitement-based rule mistakes. The basic rules are exactly the same.
In answer to point 3, the ball launch doesn’t use the new rules – those are only for the regular two-player arena. As the ball shoots out in one of six directions, the “ball line camping” tactic doesn’t work in Ultimate.
James, Thanks for the reply. Will be fun to still be able to catch the ball in Ultimate, but I assume your rush will end if you fail (just like it used to)?
Ok, back to the warehouse to help pick my pre-order sets of Ulimate now please…….I really cant wait to play this game 🙂
This is something to go on my Christmas wishlist. It looks like fun even when you don’t know exactly what you’re doing. I love the pinball feel to it with the fast action and the bouncing ball.
I can imagine you might even quite easily invent different play scenario’s and rules to change up the game once you’ve had a ton of official games.
This is brilliant.
Maybe for Christmas you can do a special 6 player video?
It’ll be a right laugh, innit.
Love the look of the Giant characters, but I am going to say it again I would love to see an Ogre.
