Float Into Battle With New Kharadron Overlords For Age Of Sigmar
May 6, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop has been showing off some new additions to the world of Age of Sigmar and the Kharadron Overlords today. The focus this time is towards two new characters and then some high-flying Duardin strapped into their magically enhanced balloons!
Leading the way we actually have the Aether Khemist first though (pictured above) who, as you can imagine, has been playing around with all sorts of gizmos and gadgets for the rest of the fleet.
He can also harness poisonous chemicals and release a terrible gust of gas from that contraption of his, reducing his enemies to choking fools.
If you'd prefer to play around with the more hardy metals that the Kharadron Overlords have mastered and leave the chemicals behind that's where the Endrinmaster comes in.
This chap is one of the Endrineers (engineers) that keep the fleet going and as you can see he has augmented himself with an awesome suit to wield that fantastically huge hammer. I really like the design here, really showing off the kind of technology the Kharadron Overlords can bring to bear.
Riggers & Wardens
When it comes to troops the Kharadron Overlords are now heading into the skies around their floating fortresses with the Endrinriggers...
...and the Skywardens.
The Endrinriggers are used, as you might imagine, as the technical experts that keep the ships going but they can also turn their tools to the task of killing when needed. They are then protected by the Skywardens as they go about their work.
As well as being elite sailors and fighters, armed with some dangerous equipment the Skywardens also have those floating mines that they can deploy to blow up enemies that get too close.
I wasn't overly sold on the idea of magically powered dirigibles for personal use by these Duardin but I'm starting to like it!
What do you think of this latest raft of releases?

These new releases continue to make me think these guys would have been so much better as Squats than as an AoS faction.
As I’ve mentioned before I’d like to do Chaos Squats with the KO and I can easily see the Endrinrigger/Skywardens as count as raptors/assault marines and the Engineer as a Warpsmith/Techmarine. 🙂
indeed.
I think someone forgot to tell the team that these were meant for 40k …
There’s almost nothing ‘fantasy’ like on them.
The armour and gadgets feel more like science fiction.
All their stuff is steampunk-themed, and steampunk is by definition fantasy (sci-fi requires some grounding in reality, which steampunk never had). They fit just fine with guys who can fire literal lightning from their crossbows and fortresses that change their shape by moving city-sized cogs.
you just know that someone, somewhere, is going to paint those ballons in party colours.
I don’t like that Endrinmaster’s hunched pose. He is dwarf so he should proudly have his head up.
I don’t think he is hunched persay, I think it’s the armour, backpack and powered exoskeleton that gives that impression.
Pre-ordered these at my friendly “local” Warhammer store this morning. A second box of bubble boys will be ordered after I finish painting the first (yes I already have a full army planned …… *sob … I have no self control )
I like the big ships and the ground infantry but the floating fellas go down like a lead balloon with me.
Can’t wait to see conversions of this range, so many possibilities!
Don’t be silly… lead isn’t copyrightable – it’s a Sigmarantine balloon 😛
more squat’s space dwarfs then.
It is like GW redesigned the squats for 40k and then changed their mind and decided to dump them in AOS. I mean, power weapons, guns, jetpack units. Just need a guy on an attack trike.
I’m waiting for a Start Collecting box before I get any of these. I made the mistake of buying the new Orcs right away then when the collection came out I had already paid full price on the contents.
The dudes with the big balloons on their backs are the best thing in this range for me. Followed (very) closely by the ships.
It is really nice to see GW moving further away from generic Tolkein-esque fantasy and into some completely new territory.
What next? I’m hoping for some kind of Aelven dragon-rider faction much like the Exodites of the 40k universe, although I would like the non-Flesh Eater / Deathrattle Death factions to get some love too.
Just one question. Where does the plastic flight stand attach?? Could be uncomfortable………
