Tyrannical Leaders & Monstrous Beasts For Skorne This Month
May 5, 2017 by brennon
Skorne are going to be seeing some new dangerous and deadly leaders for their faction in Hordes thanks to Privateer Press. These models are due for release on May 10th...
Leading the way we have Lord Tyrant Zaadesh, a Praetorian Warlock.
"Zaadesh rose from a wounded soldier who few thought would return to the field of battle to an influential lord tyrant. In battle, Zaadesh empowers his army to strike with brutal precision and to punish those enemies within reach before they get the chance to strike.
He takes every opportunity in these endeavours so that he may one day face Archdomina Makeda, remove her from her seat, and finally see his own ends come to fruition."
This is matched by another dangerous looking swordsman in Venator Dakar. While he does have a Warmachine logo in the top corner don't worry, he isn't leaving Skorne anytime soon I would imagine.
"With exaltation a remote hope at best, the ruthless warriors of the Venator caste take to the field for survival and victory instead. Relentless and cunning, Venator dakars are stern leaders with exacting standards.
Under the watchful eye of a dakar, other Venators march quickly and take precise aim, proving they are every bit as skilled in dealing death as the more respected warriors of the skorne."
This continues to build upon the awesome that is the Skorne character collection. I still don't really like any of their monsters, personal preference, but I think their characters look awesome. They have a nice mix of the Arabic and the Oriental about them and would be a joy to paint.
Talking of monsters, here is Chiron that we saw in some of the renders a few months ago.
"Chiron is one of the greatest basilisks ever broken to the skorne lash, and his subjugation attests to Beast Master Xekaar’s perfection of the art of physical conditioning through pain. The beast’s physical might is matched only by the power of his destructive gaze.
Entire ranks of foes wither to dust as Chiron sweeps his cold eyes across them, and enemy warbeasts tear apart their own flesh in agony at his barest glance."
This monstrous beast is very different from some of the others we've seen from Skorne. I'm still not completely won over by it but I do like the reptilian shift towards something different and the fact that it's not got a lot of the armour plating on that you normally associate with their beasts.
What do you think?

I am not huge on Skorne as faction but those are really good looking models for them.
Seems interesting. I wonder how many more of these they can make for existing forces? I was watching a video by the Guild ball guys about the realization that there is a hard ceiling on creativity. They said that after a certain number, any new characters and rules would just start to bleed into older existing stuff both in faction and from other factions. That at some point they would have to say a guild is finished and move on to other things. But I have never heard that said by the PP or GW guys. While these minis are… Read more »
In the case of the factions for this game and it’s sister game, I would have to agree. Many of the models look very much alike. GW’s space marines and most of the stormcast have a the same issue that PP have.
The old school Imperial Guard was a good exception as you had loads of choices to have troops look like different nationalities.
great looking figures.
Chiron looks like an amalgamation of toad and badger, something us Wind In The Willows fans have been looking forward to seeing for years.
