Contemptors For The Space Wolves & Thousand Sons Arrive

Forge World has put together two new Contemptor Dreadnoughts for you to use with the Legions of the Space Wolves and the Thousand Sons. It's almost like they're following our little project to bring to life some Horus Heresy-era armies!
The first of the Dreadnoughts we're going to look at is for the Space Wolves and it comes armed with a Power Claw and Heavy Bolter for those up-close and personal engagements with the enemy. I always liked the idea of Dreadnoughts but the waddling ones from Warhammer 40,000 were a tad comical.
The Contemptor Dreadnought, however, is all kinds of awesome and you could imagine it getting stuck in when the battle is joined.
Sorcerous Dreadnoughts
The Thousand Sons, on the other hand, continue with a different thread as their Dreadnought is armed with an Autocannon.
Allowing it to sit in tune with the style of the Thousand Sons it comes armed with a Force Blade for sticking into your enemies and the Autocannon which provides you with the range to deal with oncoming threats.
I don't really like the stance here however and I'd like to see it rocking back almost, taking the full weight of the gun as it blasts at its foes.
Which of these will you be picking up?

Even if I wasn’t a Thousand Sons fan, my preference would be for the Osirian pattern as it just looks more awesome all round. A few years ago I had an idea for a Thousand Sons dreadnought character (part of a TS fandex I wrote) and when the B@C set was released I was considering using the contemptor from that to heavily convert into him, but now, when I can afford it, I plan on just getting this guy and making slight alterations (will be changing it so he’s holding the sword with both hands; fluff was that he was… Read more »
I really like those and that includes poses that FW shows us.
its crap that all the good stuff go’s to the other chapters and nought for the Smurf’s we get the bog standard models.
The Smurfs are the standard. Your Primarch took it on himself to set the standard and force others to conform to it. The Ultramarines are, therefore, bog standard by their own hand. 🙁
yup they don’t even get all the toys that other chapters get without going off the rules.
Did the smurfs not just get a plastic papa smurf – or does that not count because it was weeks ago? 🙂
That was actually Bog Smurf himself. That’s why it’s called the Bog Standard. ;P 😀
one with his own toys.
You do get the funky shield guys but its the hazard of being the by the book chapter even before the book was written.
Like these, Osiris one in particular. Paint effect on the red is stunning.
