The Warped Come To Life In Wyrd’s The Other Side Preview
April 25, 2017 by brennon
Wyrd Games has shown off some previews of the miniatures coming your way for the world of The Other Side. This Kickstarter brought to life some fascinating creatures like The Warped here...
The team are still working on the rules and expanding upon the different miniatures but this collection is looking rather grim and nasty...which is good!
The Warped in The Cult of the Burning Man is probably the most recognisable in terms of those coming over from Malifaux to dive into this game.
We're seeing some great looking ideas providing us with individual looking characters and regular foot soldiers for this force. I particularly like this fellow above with his bloated belly and melting flesh...and yet he still wears a wonderful top hat to make sure he completes the look.
This 32mm scale collection seems like it will be great for painters to get stuck into, especially this faction with its myriad and the weird and wonderful on display.
Did you back this campaign?

A bunch of my friends at club are awaiting their bundles for this with much anticipation and excitement 😀 . I can’t say i blame them either.
good for chaos worshipers.
It’s a shame these figures are such crap. No fine detail to speak of and the fact that Steamforged is looking at this as an example for going to cheaper plastics and away from metal is deeply concerning. All the details run together with no fine line separation so the second you prime it the details bleed out. Just look at the fingers on the raised hand in the first pic. With metal or resin you get a sharp line detailing individual fingers and the ability to properly separate shadows. The difference in these is so slight it’s a joke.… Read more »
there’s still privateer press
That is a fair point @joox. PP still produces some nice metals. They did slip though when they put out their new starter boxes with that soft PVC junk. I would rather pay more for quality that to sit around looking at a bunch of flexible figures. Thankfully Bushido, Infinity, and a few other games still seem to appreciate metal. I’m just sad that the hobby part seems to be slowly slipping away.
oh man, the models in the PP starter boxes were hot garbage. i did the best I could with them but man they were disappointing. Good point about Bushido and Infinity too. I’ve been playing tons of Bushido lately and the models are fantastic and so is the game. It’s so sad to see Wyrd taking this route though, especially since their plastic kits for Malifaux are pretty decent. Hopefully this isnt a sign of things to come!
Yer I was not impressed. Look like they are nice sculpts but just rubbish molding. It is what made me apprehensive about jumping on gulidball because is like metal over cheap plastics. High quality plastic is fine but not these.
Indeed. Cheaper is not the way to go. I think people are still willing to pay if the quality is better.
The detail definition just isn’t there. And being preassembled doesn’t do a whole lot of good when there are egregious mold lines and huge gaps that aren’t taken care of during manufacturing. It’s quite a shame, as I am sure that these would be great if they were made of hard plastic as with Wyrd’s other models.
