Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition Announced
The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 was announced today and here as the Salute 2017 event unfolds.
You can find out more on their landing page here: https://warhammer40000.com/the-game/
Are you interested in getting stuck into the new edition?
I just saw it as well. The video is a bit informationless, but the FAQ for the new edition on the website is interesting. I really love where GW has been heading for those last couple of years. Yes, they made mistakes, but they learned from them and they involved the community.
Good job, I am excited for the new edition.
This perhaps the most heartening thing I have read from gw since inferno came out years ago Why should I trust you? Come on! This is New Games Workshop™ Seriously though, everything we’re talking about now is just an extension of all the community engagement work we’ve been doing over this last year and a half. We’ve learned a lot from you guys and gals, and we’ve tried really hard to make sure everything you’ve asked for is included. And if we’ve missed something? Drop us a line on the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page and let us know. We’ll make… Read more »
From personal experience, talking to people, reading fansites, listening to podcasts etc I think most people are looking forward to 8th Edition, especially because of New Games Workshop™ and the confidence that gives fans of 40k that they’re not going to ruin the game.
Yes Yes, yes and yes I do not fear change Lol, Got my interest peaked, GW’s new found presence is exciting really looking forward to this
Let’s see if they can save 40k and bring people back.
That will also depend on the 40k community itself.
Are they going to embrace the changes in the rules or are they going to complain about every tiny change like it was the end of the world ? (see Age of Sigmar vs Warhammer Fantasy)
Are they willing to change their ways as well ?
Do newbies get treated with care this time ?
Do they say anything more at Salute or is it just the teaser drop?
Looks like the Raven Guard will be getting a dust off. Seems to be a new vibrancy about GW now. I live close to Warhammer World and they’ve made some positive changes there. You get the feeling that they’re actually putting ‘love’ into their products again! Still haven’t tackled the Ogre ‘triple by-pass’ Breakfast yet tho 😉
Oh yea, let’s see what it brings. Love to get my Deathworld IG going again with Marbo sneaking about. Hopefully the old characters will come back, or at least be included such as the Last Chancers.
Here’s hopefully expecting good news.
We all knew it was coming, I’m looks forward to seeing what they do myself. Haven’t touched 40k since 7th edition arrived, the games needed a reboot for a while now this could well get me back into playing again
looking forward to the change in 40k
40K 8th edition NGGGGGGH. I need to change my trousers
Its not grab me as it should of
GW are really getting how to do this hole promotion thing these days! and of course it was announced today of all days!
Not exactly the most shocking news drop, but glad to see they’re ready to start talking. Like others have said I’ve been very happy with the recent changes from GW. Hope they keep trying to be engaged and responsive to feedback.
Ive just been through the faq myself and it looks interesting. Good to see them engaging with the community.
Exciting times ahead
Am saving for this hopefully will come with a new 2 player starter set.
I’ll certainly see what they have to offer at UKGE.
and…….not sure what the message was
yeah, as a trailer for a product it sucked.
Especially if you aren’t aware of the franchise itself.
It wasn’t made for those not aware of the franchise I don’t think. They know they need to keep old players on side, especially after the rocky communications and reaction to Age of Sigmar from fantasy players.
Indeed they handled communication when it come to AoS really poorly. So poorly in fact that after all this time I am still pissed about it even after taking stand that I am not interested from AoS at all. Of course back then it was different kind of GW so I can only hope that they learned they lesson and that new GW is more open about it like they seem to be.
I’ll approach with an open mind… but 40k has never really been a hook for me…
I have a friend that is dreading this release because he says everything is going to change. Not that I play the game but from what I hear it is about time. Good luck GW not that they need luck, their followers will eat up anything they push out.
And such people are the very reason why GW can’t change anything drastic, which kind of sucks because (IMHO) 40k needs a paradigm shift after all these years.
I’d be more worried about how newbies are going to react to this system update.
That’s the market that GW really needs to focus on, because while the old guard are going to complain a lot they will buy the core rules and their faction codexes anyway.
Exciting stuff! I would love to play 40k again but the current bloat has totally put me off!
Cautiously optimistic.
Not really fussed about this, lost heart when I realised that just getting the rulebooks & the codex for the 3/s armies I had would be hitting the £120 mark when they released 7th edition – I just realised I could get more for my money elsewhere & the that the changes they’d made to the “fluff” and the armies meant I wasn’t enjoying playing it anymore.
Actually more excited about this than I thought I would be…
Like a lot of GW clips they show a lot but you don’t get the wiser.
Nice video but no info ..
