Pendraken Releasing 3rd Ed Of Blitzkrieg Commander At Salute
April 7, 2017 by stvitusdancern
Pendraken Miniatures mostly known for their 10mm scale minis have announced that they are taking pre-orders for the 3rd edition of Blitzkrieg Commander their WWII ruleset.
The rulebook will officially launch at Salute on April 22 ( man I wish we were going to be there this year). If you order it, it will start shipping on Monday the 24th of April. In this rulebook you will find:
- Suitable for any scale miniatures, from 2mm right up to 28mm.
- Simple command system that emphasises the fog of war.
- Effective mechanism for casualty resolution.
- Flexible figure ratio meaning one base represents a platoon.
- Minimal setup time, simply assemble your forces and play.
- Contains 49 army lists covering all nations and theatres.
- Includes 15 scenarios.
- Suitable for solo, two player or multi-player games.
- No supplements, everything you need to play WWII games in one book.
- Quick Reference Sheet included.
- I am not familiar with this rule set but I am a collector of rulebooks and we would like to hear from others on their experiences on how the game plays. I would be especially interested to see how it scales to the different miniatures scales.
Are you going to Salute and looking at this game?

Should add it but shouldnt really need to that it can be played in any scale ( yeah I know there not scales) from 2mm up to 28mm but you would need a huge table for that as the later war kit has gun ranges up to 60-70cm
I’m looking forward to it! My go to system for WWII is BKC2
The question is will this be an improvement on 2nd ed for what may not have worked in that. Does it infact fix what isn’t broken?
Also there was some concern expressed on there forums that the army lists may not be entirely reflective of the historic counterparts as units changed to match what is or planned to be available from Pendreken themselves directly.
Will this be a case of if have 2nd ed not worth the change, but worth getting over 2nd if don’t already own that?
I have heard that Pendraken went away from that sort of army list quite quickly after discussion on the Pendraken forum
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated, I hope everyone is happy with the 3rd Edition. @Andy: There was never any intention to ignore historical accuracy in the army lists, just whether we could do anything to make the lists match better to the products we produce. In the end we decided to make the lists as inclusive as possible so there’s now 49 armies in there with a lot of equipment available to choose from. We’ve also gone through tons of feedback on the previous editions and made changes that we hope make sense and improve the rules. There will… Read more »
