Total War: Warhammer – The Battle for Bankruptcy
April 5, 2017 by crew
Welcome back to this weeks episode of our Journey from Tabletop series where MrStainless001 aka Sam takes us through his adventure in Total War: Warhammer.
In today's episode Sam is struggling with some cash flow having more money going out than coming in, he'll have to settle his economy before moving on.
While getting offers from various other settlements, will he hold out or will he give in to the capitalist greed?
See more of Sam's videos at his Youtube Channel while we check back next week for this awesome battle ahead.
How have you struggled in dire situations?
A great episode, its nice to see, that i’m not the only one living on knives edge in total war 🙂 You can really see how impotent the economy is in this episode. You money went from plus to minus, so fast again, when the vampire sacked you town. When i last played as clan angrond (dwarfs) my economy where always close to minus, because they cost twice as much to upkeep each unit, and dwarf units are not the cheapest. I’ve had a lot of close calls with bankruptcy like the ones you have in this episode. I’m looking… Read more »
I had trouble with money playing as The Empire. So much spending. I’m not playing as the Chaos Warriors in the North under Archaon and it’s a lot of fun, even if it’s odd playing as a horde army.
Lots of sacking and pillaging and no worrying about settlement management too much!
Chaos, beastmen and orcs are specially good at sacking and looting (no surprise) 🙂 The hardest thing playing as chaos is the attrition the army suffer from being close to a second chaos army. So combined attacks with chaos can be a challenge.
Yeah I just raised up Sigvald’s force and it doesn’t like playing with Archaon’s.
I’ve sent him off to go butcher some Northmen to train up whilst Archaon deals with The Empire and continues sacking Kislev.
Interesting predicament. I would have seriously considered taking their offer to become a vassal. But in my many years of playing these types of games, I’ve learnt that building a strong economy is often the route to success. Off the back of that, my first moves in any game tend to be ones to develop and increase income streams. It allows you to buy flexibility later on (but probably makes for a very boring series of videos…)
Hmmmmmm….your plan is a lot more complex and sensible than the one Westminster put together for Brexit. In fact I think they should just use yours instead – the outcome would probably be a lot better for us all.
*Snicker*
Just a general question to anyone about the game and tactics – if you are besieging a town that has a substantial garrison and an army of 20 units in it, how do you defeat it with armies that can only contain 20 units? Just besiege it until the enemy’s morale comes down and then attack or is there a secret handshake I am unaware of?
You can support an army with as many armies that you want and they will come in as reinforcement during the battle. Example if you have an army of 20 supported by an army of 15 you will have a total of 35 unit in the battle.
Great video again. The only big issues I had with economy in total war is that it stays low (about 1000-1500) for a long while. Mostly because I build up my economy and build some units to get 1 big army. What I did with Bretonnia was going for the technology for better diplomacy with the other Bretonnian factions and because of this I had the opportunity to go for confederacies very fast. Giving a better peasant economy and more income. Currently I am having problems with Wood Elves jumping around in my lands with their world root. For Warhammer… Read more »
total war is good at stabbing you in the back when things are starting to go good.
Ahh, all those complaints about Artois. Seems like turnabout to me, given how often they had been offering you deals for alliances eh? Its been interesting watching this, I’m always much slower and more methodical in my total war games, so I rarely run into such financial difficulties, though I’m often scrambling to meet the late game threats, if this fight with Marienburg works out then you’ll be very financially solid, I think it might be worth it to do the un-chivalrous and loot the city when you take it, really need the money. Should probably deal with Mousillon next,… Read more »
Awesome episode. I’m waiting anxiously for next week.
