Army Painter RuneWars Hobby Weekend Live Blog – Saturday
Matte Coating Your Miniatures
We look at the process, a tricky one at that, where you are able to Matte Coat your miniatures using the spray from Army Painter.
Make sure the conditions are right for this as it could make a big difference in the outcome of your miniatures.
really need to start matt varnishing some of my stuff…
wait what? she finished both of her armys already? wow nice job!
Thanks! I surprised myself. Haha
Laura should win a prize just for getting everything painted already. Love the mat finish.
I wish. The big ol’ paint set wouldn’t be wasted. Lol
Wow. not only the first person done, but they also look fantastic. I guess it is time for her to start playing!
Bloody hell, well done Laura. Also, dont forget to clear the nozzle once you’re done same as with all rattle cans.
I only learnt about that yesterday. I was learning a lot about painting over the weekend
Anti shine Matt varnish is brilliant stuff
nice video, and really like the purple and green humans.
I’d be happy to play with those, just would take me 10 times as long. She does deserve a prize.
That’s one quick girl. Looking forward to seeing her army(armies) on the gaming table tomorrow.
Never dared stray from Testors mat varnish, never tried AP.
I have used The Army Painter’s matte coat spray to finish several batches of minis. They all turned out great even when I sprayed on a cold and damp 40F degree Chicago day. Great stuff! I am a customer for life.
Incredible, that is a years worth of painting for me in just two days
Thanks you =D
I was wondering what happened with the backside of the miniatures, until I have seen that he was turning back them to apply another coat.
Fantastic job.
So THAT is why frosting happens…humidity
wow that was some speed painting. well done.
you can prevent frosting when you let the miniatures dry for at least 24 hours as well 🙂
Two Armies in a day and a half???? WFT???
Apparently I’m not human for doing it =D
Laura speedpainter superstar
Definitely using that as my new title =D
Was she the first done?
I was indeed!
Use matte varnish all the time
Way to go Laura – give her some more models to paint guys!
I like to use a matte varnish and then go in with a brush with gloss varnish to touch up anything that should be reflective such as eyes and wet/slimy surfaces. The mixture of the two I find really helps those details pop
Frosting also happens when it is cold, or the can is cold.
I do always shake my can, soak it in hot water in the sink and then shake again and ready to rumble.
Good job Laura. Fast too.
Some really nice minis
