Army Painter RuneWars Hobby Weekend Live Blog – Friday
Rock Textures with the Terrain Tutor
We stop in with Mel, the Terrain Tutor and find out how he's approaching doing some rocky techniques on his Golem for RuneWars.
We will be stopping back in with him over the weekend to find out how the rest of his collection has come to life too.
lovely model, look forward to see the result, and maybe try for myself 🙂
The Terrain tutor can’t help himself, terrain tutorials even when is on a weekend break. lol
Interesting stuff!
Great technique idea, looking forward to seeing Mel’s results…
I’m sure that’s gonna work well. Hope there’s some good shots of it when it’s done.
Love it. Mel does a great job on terrain and its nice to see him using those techniques on mini’s.
It does make sense to treat a golem as terrain for painting purposes. I hope that he will put som grass and grovel on the model as well.
nice one
Mel! I forgot he was coming. He always seems to approach things very differently than most people. I think that makes his content so valuable. You can always learn lots of new things. I look forward to see what he can do on that rock golem dude.
I think most of us approach a mini in roughly the same way, ie prime>base>shade>layer/highlight with an occasional variation to suit the model or hobbyist’s style. So I always find it refreshing, and inspiring, to see someone try something outside that norm. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out
I almost picked up a VIG swag bag at Adepticon just for this game, looks great.
I love this model. I want to find uses for him in other games! Frostgrave perhaps.
It’d look good with an ice and snow theme, for sure.
Good to see Mel there.
Awesome video! Thanks for the ideas on how to paint these Miniatures *when I get my hands on this game. I cant wait!
I like this approach from Mel and I’m wondering if this would be a good way to style the Anatres Boromites?
Great tutorial Mel! I’ll be sure to give this a shot with some upcoming models.
interesting technique, looking forward to see how it turn out!
Stippling with a sponge is genius, years of painting and I haven’t used that technique on a miniature! Yet..
Now that made me smile – good old Mel!
Go Mel, if it doesn’t work out hit the new tones they mixed up 🙂 Somehow I am sure that once you get to the grit stage all will be well.
Everyone loves a bit of Mel!
Wauw, so great to see Mel at the weekend 🙂
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him.
That makes so much sense and is so obvious! How did I not think of that? Of course there is very little in the world that is actually white and if you walk through a kitchen outlet you will see all the slabs of surfaces you can get and this will show the colors that can be done. Now I need to watch HGTV and BoW.
mmmh i should start sponging…. so far my rocky textures are made with drybrushing + brown green and red washes
Very interesting… Look forward to seeing if it works
mel the king
The models really look nice. Show more of the skeleton faction.
