What's Inside The RuneWars Box?
We take a look at what's inside the RuneWars box that the Hobby folk here are getting to work through.
Packed with models and with plenty to get on with this is going to be quite the weekend! Let's see what Jason has inside his box of goodies?
Some Inspirational Miniatures
We look ahead to how we're going to paint up these miniatures we get a look at what Army Painter have to show off using their techniques.

You're going to be learning all about different techniques and so we thought it would be ace for you to know the fellows getting you stuck into the ways to paint quick armies.
Tips For Assembling & Cleaning Your RuneWars Miniatures
The Army Painter guys sit down and go through some tips and tricks for assembling your RuneWars miniatures.
Considering that they are made of a soft plastic you have to use some techniques that might not be similar to what you've been doing in the past.
This includes looking at what you need to do when it comes to cleaning up mould lines and more.
Tinkering Away On Building & Painting Underway
We've still got some Hobby Weekender folk coming in to start building their armies.
Some of have been tinkering away getting some paint down onto miniatures too and you can watch out for a video on base coating, spraying and more down the line.
Getting Started Tips – Priming Your Army
We get some tips from the Army Painter guys about how you go about Priming your army.
There are some things to learn about the way in which the spray works and indeed some top tips afterwards about the way in which you can use the spray.
Remember the spray and stick method and indeed how much you're putting on your models.
Painting Away!
We close in and find out what folks are going to be working on over the last few hours.
People have been getting some paint down on their models after the primer stage and people are powering on with loads of epic pieces already.
It's wild how quickly some of the models are coming together.
How To Straighten Your Bendy Bits!
We stop in with Jonas to learn about how you work out those bendy spears and turn them into good thrusting weapons.
This technique requires very, very hot water so make sure to be careful when you're working away.
John Paints The Daqan Spearman
Join John as he gets stuck into a painting tutorial, painting up the Daqan Spearmen from the RuneWars box.
This is a pretty in-depth tutorial so grab a cup of tea and get stuck into this one to find out how you can get some awesome looking Spearmen.

There are some awesome paint sets for you to snap up allowing you to get stuck into The Army Painter method.
Close Ups Of Our Work!
We're really getting stuck into the painting now and that means that some folks have pushed on and got loads of paint down onto their miniatures.
It's actually quite refreshing to be able to sit down and just paint for a few hours and engage with your fellow hobbyists as you do so.
A Spot Prize Giveaway
We have an unreleased miniature going to one of the lucky Hobby Weekend members!
In the true tradition of Fantasy on the tabletop we roll a D20 and find out who the lucky hobbyist is...
Focus Damn It! Focus!
We get stuck into the power hour as it were and push on with more of our miniatures.
It's great getting all manner of our techniques we've learned from the Army Painter guys into practice.
Some of us are even getting some of the units for RuneWars finished!
Bo’s New Strongtone Mixers
...is that Strongtone, or is it something more.
Maybe this isn't going to be as sedate a Hobby Weekend as we thought.
The Models Come Together
We focus in on some more of the work being done by the painters. They been beavering away for a while now and are looking forward to some grub.
Do you reckon it's mean to say that they should get some miniatures finished before they eat?
Rock Textures with the Terrain Tutor
We stop in with Mel, the Terrain Tutor and find out how he's approaching doing some rocky techniques on his Golem for RuneWars.
We will be stopping back in with him over the weekend to find out how the rest of his collection has come to life too.
What Armies Have You Speed Painted?
As we check out more of the work being done here at the Hobby Weekend we want to know what kind of armies you've speed painted, maybe even using these methods from Army Painter, in the past.
If you have cool armies that have come to life like this make sure to make a forum topic and share your completed force and we'll take a look!
Grub Is Up!
It's now time for some grub before we get back to some late night painting and then head off to the pub.
Considering the concoction that Army Painter put together for us earlier it's probably good that we're lining our stomachs!
Catch Up With Gareth
We catch up with Gareth, one of the Hobby Weekenders, and find out how things are going with him as he paints up his army.
We're all now full and ready to go off to the pub soon...after we've focused in on some more painting...just a little bit more.
This should be an interesting bootcamp, really want to see peoples opinions of Runewars. Have fun all.
I find runewars an interesting game. Easy to learn hard to master 🙂
Woo! Looks like the gang is all here today.
FFG just updated this to have a street date of April 13th, so it won’t be long now.
I’m scratching my head as to why I didn’t ask permission from the wife to come over for this one. It’s holiday time (unusual for a school teacher and boot camps) and I have nothing on this weekend.
You could comment and try to win that megapaint set How is that for a weekend ^-^
This is the first hobby weekend I’m jealous of not attending.
Really wanted to go to this one but my inconsiderate sister decided to get married the same weekend
I’m sure if you had explained it was a boot camp she would have rearranged the date.
I am just ready to learn a idea never thought of
Woop another weekender to follow. I enjoy these
This is the boot camp that I’ve been the most excited about. I love me some hobby.
There’s a famous quote I’ve read somewhere that seems to fit, “Let’s get stuck in!™”
I am actually a bit excited for this.
Looks so great. A pity that in my country do not do things like that. I will follow you in Youtube :O
I’m excited to see how this format of bootcamp works out.
so curious about how it plays. Will it be a the new king of fantasy tabletop miniature games?
Looking forward to see how it all goes. I’m really interested in the game, but as painting the lead mountain has ground to a halt again, I need more info on how it plays before giving in to temptation!
Man, I wish I could hop the pond to be there!
What a great idea! A weekend get together for building and painting armies. It is interesting what tha might be considered the least social aspect of the hobby can be the most social. It is amazing how much can get done when you have other hobbyists in the same room sharing best practices and encouraging your work.
My buddy and I have swapped sides from two base sets and will be doing some painting progress posts on our blog.
I wish there were events like this in the States. What fun.
Enjoy the weekend gentlemen! I’m looking forward to seeing the results of non stop hobbying in action on Sunday 🙂
i am a huge desent fan, so I hope that these are compatible with that game.
I have .. I don’t want to say resorted but it is kinda that… resorted to changing up my painting techniques to try to get stuff painted and on the table even if it’s not my best work. I have been using the army painter quick shade/dip and overall have been happy… I feel like I should be doing a bit more extreme highlighting as the effect from the dip I have been using does darken a lot of the colors quite a bit… but the sealing and protect components have been very helpful. I think I should play around… Read more »
the army painter paints look like they have good coverage I could use some new paint.
Its really interesting to see how Fantasy Flight does a mass battle game. This has definitely peaked my interest.
This should be a good one
