Prodos Bring Special Miniatures & AvP 2nd Edition To AdeptiCon 2017
March 21, 2017 by brennon
Prodos Games are going to be at AdeptiCon 2017 and with them, they bring some special miniatures and some big news concerning Alien Vs Predator as the 2nd Edition becomes available for pre-order this week.
Leading the way however they have this special Capitol Heavy Infantry Trooper from the world of Warzone: Resurrection who will be free to anyone who buys $40 worth of Warzone goodies. To give you a heads up their booth is situated at number thirteen in the Discovery Hall.
The model is, of course, UniCast which is the new method Prodos are using on their models...and it does look rather superb. She is joined by another UniCast model which is available at the event, the AdeptiCon Alien Diorama.
This piece will be available to those who spend $50 on AvP miniatures and other gubbins at the event. So, there you have it. Two big show miniatures for the event if you get stuck in and spend some cash with Prodos. The big news, however, came as the announced that AvP 2nd Edition would be coming soon.
AvP 2nd Edition Pre-Orders
The new boxed game comes along with a complete revamp. The new box is square rather than a rectangle and is packed with their UniCast miniatures meaning you no longer have to assemble anything from within the set.
The miniatures, which also now come in a coloured material, do look fantastic and they were always one of the big selling points of the game.
Additionally, the new set comes with revamped and reconfigured rules as well as the Last Stand Mode. You will also find a new foam insert within the box allowing you to keep your models and other components safe between games.
While the game has had quite the chequered past and still continues to be a bit of a bugbear in the industry it would be interesting to see what's changed with the game going forward.
Maybe Dawn & Gianna will be able to stop in with the guys from Prodos at the event and find out more for you.
What do you think of the news?

Glad to see there is a reason I am still waiting on my kickstarter. Good to see 20th century fox has no issues with authorising sculpts as well.
Can you give me a rundown on what’s up with AVP?
I mean, I can just go out and buy the game anytime I want. Have they not delivered anything to backers? Or are backers waiting on a second or third wave of stuff?
I wanted to check on the Kickstarter page, but it says that AVP is subject to an intellectual property dispute.
What is up with that!?!
I’d suggest checking out http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/sci-fi-gamer-town-square/forum/topic/calling-avp-kickstarter-backers/
There’s a lot to go through, but that’s what’s needed to get a grasp of the full farcical situation.
I backed it, still not recieved any of my pledge, prodos don’t respond to emails, I only get automated responses. I believed this happened to a few people. I’ve heard some people got the base pledge but none of the extras they had pledged for. If you know who King Fluff is on facebook he posted on facebook a similar set of problems he was having with prodos a few weeks ago.
Backers are still waiting on initial products. I would have a look at the forum posts for the full details but as one of the bakers with no product ever received they are not a company that I would want to support.
there is a second edition in print when people haven’t received stuff from the first Kickstarter?
that takes balls.
Balls, no
The p*ss, yes
Is it fraud by false representation? I do this in the day job and I’m trying to think it through.
Another kick in the nuts for the backers who still haven’t received their stuff.
Prodos are fuckwits and I don’t think the Beast should be promoting this company.
I can’t believe they have the gall to launch a second version of AVP when I and so many others have been waiting years for them to honour the AVP kickstarter pledges. They don’t reply to emails and most of the stuff I pledged for is available from their online store so what’s the excuse for not delivering it? I’ve even offered to pay extra postage. I’m disappointed that B.O.W. are still promoting products from these crooks. Instead you guys should be putting pressure on them to fulfil their commitments to the gaming community. They might listen to you.
While I appreciate that BoW try to be a positive outlet, Prodos absolutely deserve to be called to task for AvP.
Prodos/archon whatever they call themselves are dishonest scum, preorder at your own risk.
Was hoping beasts would be taking the same approach they did with load for the second edition of AVP. 🙁
This is a news article it is not a promotion. I think people need to realize that. BoW are reporting news they are not endorsing anything. People should not equate the reporting of information with endorsing a product.
Aye – I’m coming at this from the viewpoint of just making sure people know it’s out there. I’d rather have mentioned this in the news and got you, talking about it than ignored it and then folks ask us why we hadn’t talked about it heh.
There are things we post in the news that we like and want you to go and look at…of course, but we’re also just posting about things that are happening, especially with AdeptiCon being such a big thing.
True enough Ben, it is news and this is the news feed. I just feel that sometimes BoW don’t tackle the negatives in the industry.
These are companies rather than charities at the end of the day, if you order a groceries delivery from a supermarket then you should get your groceries. I realise as I type this that kickstarter is not a pre-order service and so on etc.
Ben: I think BoW does have a responsibility to help police such companies as Prodos, particularly as the Beast promotes itself as a community forum. Prodos has acted in a despicable way towards innocent wargamers who also support this forum. As a result, I don’t think it’s morally right for you to be promoting them.
The boxed game in 1st Edition is a lot of fun. I’ve also played with the beta of 2.0 and it remains a fun game.
I have no knowledge at all about the Kickstarter situation, I’m just talking about game play.
IMHO this move is a complete joke when people are still waiting on their KS. I bought the game retail almost two years ago and if they can do this they should bloody well sort out the people who they still owe LOTS too
Prodos don’t deserve customers if this is how they are treated
Even back in the good old days when the KS was still running for the ’boutique resin’ version of the game, we knew there was going to be a retail edition with plastic miniatures. I don’t recall the exact timeline, but I believe the retail edition was supposed to go into production six months after the KS edition has been shipped. Obviously, things* happened which massively stretched out that timeline, meaning this retail edition is now several years ‘late’ and Prodos sold the premium resin edition at retail as a stop-gap to help keep some money coming in. In some… Read more »
This probably isn’t an exhaustive list, but here are the things we are still waiting on in Wave 3 (or beyond!). If have any of these things in your pledge (not 100% sure about Linn and Dutch), you won’t be getting anything from Prodos until Wave 3:
P Cloaked Pred (Ranged)
P Cloaked Pred (Disc)
P Cloaked Pred (Spear)
P Cloaked Female Predator
P Cloaked Berserker
P Cloaked Young Blood
Hardback Rulebook
Resin Terrain Set
Major Dutch Schaefer
Lieutenant Linn Kurosawa
M Sergeant
M Colonial Marines (the alt poses)
I don’t know who you are IRL siygess but your description of “the state we are in” seems very mechanical to me, and the detail makes me think you are linked to Prodos somehow. I feel the need to put another side to the story. This KS was supposed to deliver in May of 2014. We all knew it would be late, but nobody minded because, well, it was AVP man!!!! Then the issues began. The main one being that the KS page was mysteriously taken down so we had nowhere to go. Communication was, and remains, appalling. The owner… Read more »
Although I should point out that the detail comes from the backer updates and the occasional snippet of news that makes it to Facebook. It’s all in the public domain, but not presented in a coherent matter.
I have to add that a independant journalism channel really should be a little more critical of Produs, I appreciate your comments @brennon but the article does read as if the issues are in the past and they are clearly not. Frankly I don’t think anyone would have an issue if a decision was made to not cover Produs, or to do so with a much more critical eye. Personally I have not been stung by them but business practices and shall we say some terrible ok in the eighties sculpts mark them as a company the industry would be… Read more »
“While the game has had quite the chequered past and still continues to be a bit of a bugbear in the industry it would be interesting to see what’s changed with the game going forward.”
What a strangely circumspect and vague way of mentioning this. Why not just come out and say what the ‘bugbear’ is?
Backers from the Kickstarter are still waiting for some or all of their pledge, despite the game being available on retailers shelves for 20 months now, and Prodos having a 40% off firesale last summer.
