Spirit Of Rebellion Preview Event Coming Soon For Star Wars: Destiny
March 17, 2017 by brennon
Over the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, 2017, whilst we're powering through the Hobby Weekend, there will be a chance to head to a Preview Event for Star Wars: Destiny at your friendly local gaming store focusing on the new boosters for Spirit Of Rebellion from Fantasy Flight Games.
It will be your first chance to pick up a new selection of cards like Jyn Erso, Krennic and IG-88 who is awesome indeed. Of course, it wouldn't be an event without some special goodies like these cards!
When you complete special missions on your objective card for the event you will be able to pick up some of these awesome characters you see above with their text in arabesh. These include dealing a specific amount of damage, bringing your deck along to play games, playing games and buying boosters.
Basically, if you have fun playing Destiny you will get some awesome cards.
Will you be going along to this?

i’m looking to give card games a go and destiny is one of those in the running. thought there would be more heat here on BOW for destiny and card games in general.
I’m the only real big card game player @emptynessisform – although Justin has dipped his toe into Netrunner as well.
Destiny is fantastic although there are supply issues at the moment. Hopefully, we’ll have lots of nice new cards for this and the restock of the first batch in June.
I’ll be at one of the local pre-release events, but as I can’t afford to keep up with Destiny for the foreseeable future I cashed out on Awakenings. Did very nicely out of it and it’s paid for a few new games.
Have you checked out Arkham Horror, @brennon ? We’re big fans of this one.
I have checked it out @redben – my housemate has a copy and we played through the that initial investigation. Very tough but good fun.
I’ve been told the following investigations are a lot better as well so I’m looking forward to giving them a go.
I’m a big fan of the LotR LCG so Arkham was right up my street.
The first core box scenario is mainly just a quick introduction to the rules. The next two are much meatier. Curse of the Rougarou is meatier again. They make good use of the fact each scenario is a basically a deck of cards to get a lot of variety into the scenarios. T.I.M.E Stories does the same thing in a different way, and should also be played if you haven’t already.
The weighting of the scenarios past the core box seemed to be better according to folks who have played through it. I’m sure the final scenario in the core box is meant to be finished easier than we did it but it sure was tough! T.I.M.E Stories is fantastic. Four of us played through the first scenario and it took us three times to get it right I think (might have been two). The conclusion to that was pretty awesome – even up to the final decisions you make. Felt like the time you first get into a case in… Read more »
It took us several goes to do the last core box scenario and we found it extremely difficult, until we discovered we’d placed the card on the Hard/Expert side…. How anyone is supposed to win on that mode I have no idea, and bear in mind we had the standard mode tokens in the bag. We did Rougarou at the first attempt with a few turns to spare. It took us three and a half hours so I’m glad we didn’t have to have a few goes at it. We’ve taken three runs on each of the first three TS… Read more »
Got the two scenarios in The Dunwich Legacy finished, @brennon , and they were very definitely easier than the core box scenarios. I suspect it might be because they’re the first two parts of an eight-part campaign so it probably doesn’t want to ruin your decks right at the start lol.
ok you guys have completely lost me, way to many games I didn’t know about. any chance of a card game article or video for new players on what’s availably along with the different styles and the like. I took a look at final fantasy and the reviews said it was pretty solid without being ground breaking, good for beginners apparently. the art is as important as the game play to me and final fantasy is a visual treat. as well as destiny and final fantasy I’ve been eyeing up netrunner as it offers something outside and beyond my miniatures… Read more »
I tried out FF and it seemed like it was aimed at let’s say a younger audience. I’m writing up post on Arkham Horror so will post it in the Green Room when it’s up.
Star Wars: Destiny is a good entry level card game/dice game as it has very simple mechanics and lots of chances for combos etc – if you can manage to wrangle the collectable aspect of the game. Netrunner is great, but it’s been around for quite a while now so you might find yourself behind the curve. Nothing wrong with the base game at all – it still provides a fantastic chance to play a game where you feel like a Hacker/Mega-Corp. Game of Thrones is a bit more cutthroat as far as the games from FFG go but it’s… Read more »
Ashes is another favourite here. Glad the sale of Plaid Hat to Asmodee is finally all sorted the releases are starting up again. We’re hoping our local store can get the upcoming OP kits.
thanks for the heads up on FF, shame really but i’m kind of relived when something falls short these days as there is so much out there.
i’ll be there for Arkham Horror, much appreciated.
thanks @Brennon
