Add Atmosphere With Real Game FX’s Fog Machine Preview
March 14, 2017 by brennon
Real Game FX is getting closer and closer to their new Fog/Dry Ice Machine coming to the tabletop to add some atmosphere to your tabletop. The Persistent Fog Machine will be coming to Kickstarter in the near future...
The important thing to remember about this is that it doesn't actually use the ice inside the box. How it actually works...well, that's for the wizards to understand but it certainly provides some interesting effects on the tabletop as you can see from the video above and the images below.
This kind of thing has to not be a hassle when you're putting together a tabletop. From the looks of it this is going to be small enough so that it isn't going to get in the way and simply add some atmosphere to your world.
What do you think?

That’s cool.
I want enough fog to hide a bloodthirster for a couple of turns and then KABLAMO!
when the fog of war gets real.
It looks like a nicely packaged Ultra Sonic ‘smoke’ generator (in which case its not smoke but Fog {as it says on their box}…. ‘dry ice’ is something else, but the resulting effect is essentially the same) From experience the biggest issue with these on the tabletop is “spitting” from the water source (the ultra-sound causes a “spit” above its generator pad as it generates the vapour cloud from a pool of water), but it looks like they’ve enclosed the whole shebang within a stylish box that contains the spitting but lets the fog vapour out near the base. Problems… Read more »
This is something I have been looking for a long time. The solutions have always been to complicated or damaging. Will keep myself posted on this.
I can see people getting to the end of the game and knocking this off to pack away, only to discover three squads both players forgot about because they were camouflaged so well in the smoke lol. On the plus side, would be really nice in games that use true line of sight to help simulate restricted vision as you get down for a model’s eye view and can only see about six inches away if that. Can also see this being good for those who use laser pointers to work out line of sight as the beam will light… Read more »
Nice, been tinkering with making my own for a while, wonder how they solve the condensation problem…., that said the fish tank air pump ecig combo I’ve bodged works quite well but would like to make a smoke curtain effect…
that was my worry – the noise like a fish-tank pump – and loosing the dice 🙂
imagine Gangs of Commoragh in smog – or lighting-up a nebula for x-wing 🙂
I can see @Warren so hype about this from here… XD
