Cygnar & Scyrah Army Boxes Gracing The Tabletops Soon For Warmachine
March 13, 2017 by brennon
Privateer Press has revealed two new Army Boxes for 2017 coming your way. The focus this time turns to Cygnar and Retribution Of Scyrah. See what you think of them as a good primer to get you stuck into your games of Warmachine...
Inside the Cygnar set it look like you're going to get a good tactical mix of units and big tough Warjacks to deliver some combos on the tabletop.
- Warcaster Captain Kara Sloan
- Defender Heavy Warjack x 2
- Charger Light Warjack
- Trencher Infantry (10)
- 3x Trencher Infantry Rifle Grenadier Weapon Attachments
- Trencher Infantry Officer and Sniper Command Attachment
- Captain Maxwell Finn Solo
- Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator Solo
It's neat to see the humble Trencher getting back into the fight alongside some fun solos as well.
Retribution Of Scyrah Army Box
If you're more of a fan of Elves and mystical shields then how about the Retribution Of Scyrah and their Army Box?
As with the Cygnar force, this gives you a fifty point army to use on the tabletop.
- Warcaster Dawnlord Vyros
- Phoenix Heavy Warjack
- Griffon Light Warjack x 2
- Aspis Light Warjack
- Dawnguard Sentinels (10) with Command Attachment (2)
- Mage Hunter Assassin Solo
- Arcanist Solo
- Eyriss Mage Hunter Solo
- Lys Healer Solo
Retribution was one of those forces that I could never wrap my tactical head around. I enjoyed seeing them played on the tabletop but they seemed like they were a little more of a finesse faction compared to others. That's probably why I played the hammer that was Khador!
Which of these two would you go for?

"...they seemed like they were a little more of a finesse faction compared to others. That's probably why I played the hammer that was Khador!"
Content of those two boxed sets is really good.
I have a small Retribution force. I’ve never won a game. Sad times.
Will these be available outside of the US?
@theamazingmrg They are available in Australia (from at least one supplier) …. so I’d imagine other places can get them too.
I am liking the look of the Cygnar box, although I think I will make one of the defenders as a different warjack as I already have one defender and 3 is just excessive 🙂
Do they do tournaments where you are only allowed to use what comes in an army box?
These seem well constructed boxes, not spotted any in the UK yet. Khador one could be tempting, if it has the right things in it to plug some holes. Kinda hoping for one of these for the Grymkin release.
they look like great (large?) starter boxes for this game.
