Went Back to Acrylic Paints

After my let’s say rushed attempt at painting with oils I went back to tried and tested acrylic paint so I could get the job done and dusted.

I’m quite please with how the horse has turned out but I’m still no wet blender. I use all sorts of ways to try and get the paint to blend together including a makeup brush I have to sort of dry blend the paint together.

What I mean by that is I will put paint on the model as best as I can where I want it an will then use the makeup brush pictured below to blend it back into the other paint with no water. The bristles on the brush are very soft so using this with my attempt at wet blending sort of works.

Look at the bristles on that!Look at the bristles on that!

After a While of Brushing and Blending Here's My Almost Final Result

I think it's turned out great even if the blanket looks a bit like a beach towel lol.I think it's turned out great even if the blanket looks a bit like a beach towel lol.

Well this horse is almost done. I’ve got a few more bit’s to do to it and the base to finish but I’m happy with the result. I now feel much happier about the prospect of painting up 4 to 8 men mounted units 🙂

I like the horse and think the flash of blue adds a really nice extravagance 🙂

Bit late to the party @lloyd but you might find this useful for horses. Only tried it on brown horses though

1.Paint horse brown with acrylic paint and leave to make sure it’s very dry
2. Wash with thinned down enamel black
3. While still wet paint acrylic brown again . You should get a nice smooth blended type of look
