Mantic’s Mars Attacks Gets Tweaked!
August 25, 2013 by dracs
Last week we were excited to see this first miniature for Mantic's upcoming miniature game for the popular Mars Attacks franchise.
Looks pretty cool huh? However, over on his blog Jake Thornton has been showing off some new 3D renders to show off some tweaks which have been made to the sculpt.
Now the idea of these redesigns was to make these models work as one piece kits, or even two. They have also removed undercuts and changed some of the detail to make it work.
What do you think of them becoming one or even two piece sculpts?

28mm, 28mm!!! oh god give us it in 28mm 😀
It’s definitely going to be in 28mm, or 28mm+ might be a better way of putting it. 15mm was thrown out as a possibility in the early stages but I think Mantic have been set on 28mm for a while now. The obvious advantage of 15mm is it allows for large scale battles, both in the number of troops and the size of the vehicles (or monsters, robots, etc.). The downside is you lose some detail and they’re generally not as nice to paint. Companies like Battlefront have made big strides in the detail you can put on a 15mm… Read more »
Yeah the clear domes in 15mm are likely to be a nightmare. Hard to see how that would be viable
Just to put to bed stuff here the models are 28mm and will always be 28mm. This was a misunderstanding/interpretation from a blog post.
The design changes have been to detail and removing undercuts to make these into one or indeed two piece kits.
Just hope they don’t use the same plastic they did with dreadball. That stuff was horrible.
I would say there’s a very high chance that these will be in restic. I personally have never experienced an issue with it though a friend of mine did have some problems with some of his DB minis. If any minis are badly cast enough to make them practically unusable then Mantic are generally pretty good about swapping them.
