Bushido Wave 14 Will Have You Turning Cartwheels
August 22, 2013 by dracs
The Wave 14 of Bushido miniatures is getting under way with two new pieces of concept art appearing with the latest additions for the Temple of Ro-Kan and the Cult of Yurei. And the Cult of Yurei one rocks!
Firstly, the Temple of Ro-Kan will soon be getting the martial skills of Suchiro.
This guy seems pretty standard fare for the Temple, a martial arts monk type character. But the claws on one hand make me think that this particular member of the Temple will be a nice aggressive addition to the line up.
However, the one I am particularly excited about is the Cult of Yurei's Waynudo.
Yup, that's a dude'd head trapped in a flaming cart wheel.
Waynudo are one of the stranger and more frightening monsters of Japanese folklore. They were apparently very evil men in life who is being punished for a particularly heinous act they committed. They are one reason to be very careful on Japanese roads at night as anyone who crosses their path will be dragged straight to hell.
As yet we don't know what this monster will be like in Bushido, but the concept really seems to capture the true horror of this bizarre looking being.
Fancy studying with the Temple of Ro-Kan or rolling out with the Cult of Yurei?

The cult needs more Yokai (Japanese spirts etc) that Wanyudo is a terrifying thing (love it hahaha) that will teach lords to kill people by strapping them to ox carts in life….
If there was a reason for me to start “he” would be the reason 😀
Finally, someone else who knows what yokai are! I loved this guy ever since I first read about it, it and the penangalan duel for position as my favourite monster.
I hadn’t realised that it came from lords killing people that way, the piece I had read said that they were trapped in a cart wheel as the wheel is the symbol of reincarnation and this showed that they were frozen in place.
Anyone else who wants to know about yokai I would really recommend The Night Parade of 100 Demons by Matthew Meyer
Yokai used to be married to John Lennon. Everyone knows that.
Some of my favourite anime are all about Yokai.
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia(Tasogare Otome × Amunejia) Has to be my fav example of a Yokai in anime (well she is kinda isn’t she???) It has the accolade of making my cry in the last episode… yeah I’m man enough to admit it hahaha
That and the guy in it Teiichi Niiya…. he looks very familiar in his glasses … yay for derails!!!
I’m defiantly going to start a Cult army for Bushido now… fool beware!!!
Not seen that one David.
One of my favourites is quite a gentle tale, Natsume Yuujinchou (Natsume’s Book of Friends)
Which reminds me I still have watched the third season. Is very poignant and beautiful imho
Gah does this mean I have to get into another game now? Dibs on the the Temple of Ro-Kan I just love that old guy on the tortoise
Looking over the Cults starter set there is even a guy in it with Usopps nose…
Yay for One Piece :D… Time to get learning the rules me thinks lol
