Andy and Vishal have a chat about how you can best use Amon Ad-Raza to bring the word of Menoth to the heathens. With a thresher to the face.

Wouldn’t it be minus 5 for damage? Gorten survived!!!
6 + 5 = 11 11 – 4 = 7 7 – 7 = 0
Gorten is dead 😛
You missed the point. It is Arm 19, against POW 14. That is -5 from the dice, he only did 14 points of damage. Also, Amon doesn’t have sustained attack, so he would have needed to roll to hit. Gorten lives!!!
Is it me or do all these games seem to be over really fast?
Well they aren’t really supposed to be battle reports now are they 😛
They aren’t playing actual games, they are setting up specific scenarios to showcase abilities and tactics. Real games usually take at least an hour if your playing the smallest point value, at least, that has been my experience.
Yeah, this was set up to show people how to use Amon Ad-Raza… but if a game had let up to that point… that’s how quickly it would be over! 😀
Fantastic mini, fantastic play, fantastic vid, guys !
Unfortunately, my gamer stores seem to be out of Amon at the moment…
Does Amon have sustained attack? because I only saw one roll for attack and the rest was damage
Amon can auto-slam, so he knocks you down… in melee you automatically hit downed opponents.
He has smite, which knocks the enemy away d6″…..
but you used thresher.
Slams the enemy D6″ away… pg.53 of the Prime Rulebook… getting slammed knocks you down.
BoW Andy
Correct, you didn’t slam, you used Thresher… not Smite. It is a special attack, not a weapon property. Also, even if you did correct it on the instant replay, and say that you used Smite… you didn’t roll the d6″ which may have taken him out of melee range and therefore made the assassination run, a wash. I understand slamming knocks you down, but that didn’t happen here.
No, he doesn’t.
I think you’ll find he has Smite.
See above. 🙂
Sorry man, I am not trying to be an @$$hole.
Page 53… Prime Rulebook… “getting slammed”.
Mind you… after watching it again, it looks like Vish cheated me! 😀
BoW Andy
He totally did, lol. 😀
I have Amon, I never used him. I might now as I never knew that he can automatically knock down and therefore not need to role to hit.
Yep… he can use Thresher or Smite, the first lets him attack everything in his front arc, the second slams stuff… it’s an auto-slam too… not tests or anything.
If you run right up to the target slam them and roll a 1 or 2 on the D6 they are knocked down inside your melee reach!

You see my point from the other video now Andy? Your videos look good but you ( as in both you or vish ) keep getting something wrong in just about every video. All it takes is a little proof watching to know you shouldnt post this because its wrong and given people unclear information…… I watched it first before reading comments and if i didnt know better i’d be very confused about how exactly amon doesn’t have to roll to hit. Either that or Vishal is far to excited in them and forgets things because hes going for a… Read more »
I know what you’re saying. However, unlike 40K, where we get lots of queries. We don’t get any for Warmachine. So in lieu of people asking questions, we set up some set pieces to show off some of the game’s more fancy, fun or cheezy moments… it’s very easy to get caught up in the moment and miss a roll or something… it’s a fun game after all! 😀 The idea here is to increase the profile of the game and get some feedback so we can get some “proper” questions to do tips videos about… until then… it’s more… Read more »
Btw i love the fact your making up scenarios for showcasing the game. They generally do look good and inspirational. As for queries how about : 1. Tips for list building. ( very easy to pick a set of models for a particular faction then finding out after buying them they just do not work together ) 2. You’ve bought your battle box! what now ?! 3. Hordes!! 4. How to paint videos ( i know johns hiding in there somewhere 😛 ! ) 5. Hordes!! 6. Knowing when to go balls to the wall ( seriously you could do… Read more »
guys there were a few mistakes there.
a) Amon does not have sustained attack, so you need to pay for each additional attack
b) you need to declare your chage target and then move into B2B with that one – you cant declare a ‘gap’ as your charge target
c) flagellation costs 2 to case, leaving Amon with only 4 focus
d) -5 for the damage as others have said….
this is kinda misinformative…. could you have a crack at redoing this one?
a) sustained attack doesn’t let you get free attacks, it lets you hit automatically. They paid 4 focus, for four extra attacks. that was legal. (they should have rolled to hit though;) ) b) You don’t need to move into b2b, just within 2″ of the target (Amon has reach), all you need is LOS, which they had and they charged Gorten. Actually you could even charge one of the other guys and still be in range of Gorten and use thresher, giving you an attack against Gorten (and everyone else in melee range). c) He only had 4 extra… Read more »
*Correction to my last*
b) You are right (I watched the video again) they can’t charge an empty space. But they didn’t, they charged and used thresher, and then allocated the extra hits to Gorten. Which is legal as long as he is within 2″ and in the front arc.
Flagellation I assumed was upkept for 1 focus which is what he did ( though he didn’t mention this which he should have ).
ooh ooh ! Also you should have mentioned that because thresher/smite are special attacks ,Amon would need to give up his initial attacks in order to make either of those. So if he missed it he couldn’t make more special attacks , just buy more with his melée weapon providing he has the focus to do it :).
on the thresher… I don’t know if Amon has it or not but some models auto-thresher so they don’t need to forfeit initial attacks as is the case with eButcher and a few other models
