Mantic Games Talking Mars Attacks At Gen Con 2013?
August 9, 2013 by brennon
We were teased a little while ago about Mantic Games' involvement in the Mars Attacks game and it seems like Mr Renton and crew might be talking about it more at Gen Con this year...
It will certainly be interesting to see what they do with the franchise and if you can grab Ronnie at the event I suggest nudging him a few times until he tells you all he knows!
Get sleuthing!

Anyone know if this is going to be a board or a miniature game?
15mm wargame they have said.
That was mentioned in passing as a possible path to take when they first announced the license and before they started working on the game. 28mm is more likely.
Ahh…thankies. It will be interesting to see what they do with the IP
This is what I think I’ve read/heard: 28mm, Jake Thornton, similar but possibly simpler mechanics to Deadzone played on the Deadzone grid system, 1 piece minis to attract board gamers, a board game that introduces players to a skirmish level war game.
Fingers crossed it will be similar enough that the unit stats might be swappable, so you could take Martian forces into Deadzone or have Plague invade earth instead. Hopefully the box will have some cool small town USA terrain in the same style as Deadzone too. Could be a nice wee game.
I’m curious how they manage multiple factions, and if they are going to try to hold onto the corny elements of the movie.
This one is on my watch list, but not overly excited given other mini games on horizon.
Hmmm will keep an eye on it. Not really bothered about this ip but maybe the models will sway me 😉
If they do the silly movie aliens it won’t LOL
‘the silly movie aliens’ are pretty much the same as the original source material from the 1960s trading card game, and if I remember rightly they are going more for the original vibe
I believe that Tim Burton recreated many of the scenes from the trading cards for the film so as demyse says the sillyness should be in there.
there are a few mini games slated to kickstart in coming months, not sure this one will make my ‘must have’ list, as some others have.
I doubt there will be crossover with a licensed game property, or that Mantic would muddy it’s own game like that
