Role-Play In A More Civilised Time With Space: 1889
July 19, 2013 by brennon
If you were a fan of the old fashioned role-playing game Space: 1889 then you'll be pleased to know that it has come back to life in Germany and soon in English if their Kickstarter hits their targets!
"It is a time, restless and curious, full of daring adventurers setting out to explore the unknown regions of the Amazonian Rain Forest or to uncover the mysteries of Angkor Wat, brilliant scientists making exciting discoveries, eager engineers constructing fantastic machines and gentlemen going on a hunt for Venusian dinosaurs.
The invention of the ether propeller by no one less than the genius Thomas Edison led to the exploration of space and the discovery of new civilizations, technologies, and, of course, new worlds to conquer...
At the turn of the century, colonialism is at its height, and the great powers are struggling for hegemony not only on Earth, but also on the red sands of Mars and the steamy jungles of Venus."
The initial funding for the project will bring together a set of Core Rules for Space: 1889 which will be in back and white. However if they bust through their stretch goals they will be able to take it into full colour and add extra artwork to the tome. Check out some of the artwork below...
You'll be able to take your steampunk and sci-fi characters into the world of writers like Jules Verne and H.G Wells where martians exist and interact with our world in this time period of revolution and amazing thinkers.
I think this looks like it's going to be an awesome outing for this game and I would love to try my hand at it. They are insanely close to their target and I reckon we'll be getting a nice full colour version of the rules soon. Maybe you'd prefer leather bound?
