Awesome Enterprise Launch Shuriken Kickstarter
July 9, 2013 by brennon
Awesome Enterprise have an interesting looking Kickstarter in the works for their Shuriken Board Game. Check out this mass of plastic ninjas below...
The game comes with over two hundred and fifty plastic components and the board looks very good indeed. You will be playing as your chosen clan and rushing around trying to secure victory points before the sun rises.
Each of the clans has a special power and can draw from a massive pool of ninjas that can range from the unarmed ones to sword bearing ones and even a Ninja Master.
You'll then be trying to complete specific missions in an effort to earn victory points and hopefully avoid a blade in the back yourself!
Check out more on the Kickstarter page.
Does it look good to you?

Not often you see a tabletop KS with a initial goal that high anymore.
It’s got ninja’s .. I think this one will do well, I like the concept very much. Though they brought down the shipping to Canada (where I’m from) to $30, it’s still quite a bit. I’m going to wait for the retail version.
It looks fun, though the high initial target and lack of ks exclusive miniature may hamper its chances. I’d be tempted but at the moment there’s just not quite enough temptation to push me over the edge 😉
I agree Ben normally they are about $20,000 and then the stretches kick in which generates additional interest. At the rate it is going, I would think that those that have already pledged will be a little underwhelmed by the support. GoA suffered the same issue when they requested $400,000 for start up costs, which was also a shame imho, as was looking forward to it big styleeee!
Shuriken looks like a nice game, but suffers from the typical KS issue of AWESOME game + HUGE postal charges. $75 game and $50 P&P…. 🙁
$75 for the game, seems fair, then $50 to post it – no way!
Hopefully they will find a way to work around the postal issue.
The goal is low enough that it could still get funded. It won’t generate any big momentum though. Obviously there’s a difficult decision to make when setting the goal as you don’t want to find yourself officially funded yet not have enough to meet everything. Board games have it a little harder than minis games in this respect as the latter can take a much more modular approach to the campaign.
If each clan had its own models instead of the same 4 models used across the board just different colors, I could see myself backing this. But as it stands even thou you get loads of figures it just doesn’t sit well with me. They look more like plastic army men quality as well. The amount of boards you get is real good thou.
My big fear is not being able to find the ninjas.
Always check under the couch and down between the cushions.
wouldnt mind paying but the ninjas lack character, too generic
In response to the model comments This is a board game, so having the 250 gaming tokens amazingly sculpted woud cost a small fortune. A $75 game with 250 models cant be bad imho when you think that they cost about 20p each and then yoi have all the other components too. If it had been a miniatures game I could understand the quality issues, but then I think the price tag would be many times greater. 😉
Absolutely broadside, I love gorgeous miniatures as much as the next guy and own thousands of dollars worth but this is different. The minis here are tokens representing a ninja that’s all. I think it looks like a great fun beer and pretzels game. The two dudes doing it all seem cool too. Power to them :o)
look at zombicide, the full box was going for the same price as this ninja game and the minis are of considerable higher quality…at least in design and looks.
I love minis and I love boardgames but the quality here is very much toy soldiers. I guess they had to give a bit on the quality side to get the quatity of tokens/minis offered here but I still don’t see this kickstarter being successful and unfortunately the numbers seem to support that.
