4th War Equipment Corp Preview Their Portable Gaming Table!
April 24, 2014 by brennon
You might have been seeing a few things about 4th War Equipment Corp popping up across Facebook and the website over the past week or so. Unveiling more the company are showing off their product, a portable gaming table!
Above is the bag for the product which is a study fold away table for taking your game pretty much anywhere you like. As they've mentioned elsewhere this should help those people struggling to find a decent place to set up their boards and such.
From the looks of it it's a fairly comprehensive table that supports a decent about of weight when you get things like battle boards and such on top of it. Exact details are still forthcoming at the moment but it looks like a promising way of setting up for a scrap.
In my view I could see this being of great use to people setting up demo games for events and such as well as gaming clubs. You wouldn't have to start lugging around big tables and such if you had a few of these to set up and pack away.
It will be interesting to see how they develop as they head to Kickstarter in the near future and there is more information on the way soon about these.
What do you think?
I said this was a gaming table when they started there clues on there Facebook lol.
A cardboard box 😕 Can’t see the point at all, at any event you go to they supply tables, at home I use the dining table and we have plenty of sturdy tables at the club. I honestly can’t say where a fold-up table would be useful, don’t know how much this will be, but a pasting table only costs £10 – £25
Cardboard can be very strong in engineered correctly.
I’m going to hold off forming an opinion until I can find out more.
It just doesn’t look big enough or high enough…I would say most people need a 6×4 minimum to play on
@torros I suspect that they are 2×4 and clip together somehow to make bigger tables. I agree with you about them not being quite high enough.
My main concern would be the lightness and what would happen to my models if someone (me) accidently knocked or kicked the table.
Otherwise @tony said the rest. I’d like a closer look.
The bottom picture looks like 3 of those tables put together. Is that velcro around the edges to hold them together?
I do have some concerns about using cardboard; yes if manufactured correctly cardboard can be strong. However, general wear and tear, careless handling, overloading and accidental impacts (how many times have you or other people accidently kicked gaming tables legs when caught up in the moment?) will soon compromise the integrity of the structure. Also it will not take many liquid spills to reduce cardboard to mush.
With this one I agree with @hithero. I would prefer a more solid alternative.
as requested some answer to your doubt

thanks for your feedback that are the most important thing for us!
I have no tables in my house aside from a square coffee table which is no good for big games. So I’ve been using this exact method for 2 years. When I moved house I had a load of cardboard boxes. I took 4 of them and stood them up. Perfect height and they are extremely stable.
So yeah – this is a good idea if you don’t have any boxes around or you don’t want to look like a hobo with a spare room full of them.
and now unlocked also “only mat” pledge!
