quite a nice finish for the level of effort put into it – hell, may have to pick up a box of gaunts n try it myself, either that or I’m sure you could use similar techniques to get some interesting looking plague zombies…
Nice to see some bug love 🙂
Oh, wow ! John was sooo young…
Really kinda informative – i feel confident with every step, and feel like i learned a lot of simple stuff just from the colour combinations. Nice 🙂
I forgot this video existed.
It was lost … very very lost, but after some detective work and piecing together parts, we managed to resurrect it 🙂
Just in time too, because I am sick looking at my ‘Bugs of War’ unpainted lol
Fantastic video, although I may be a bit biased as the colour schemes are kind of similar to my horde!
Nice few tips and techniques in it that I’ll use to get on painting up the rest of my ‘nids.
Now… where did I put all of those gants?
Nice video, pretty similar to my plan for painting up my next mass of ‘nids – I’ll be starting out with the Army Painter Bone spray, and then should (hopefully) only need one coat of midtone wash for the main bodies.
Yeah, had I started with a bone coloured spray it would only have needed the one wash.
Wow, I remember this video! It’s where I first saw the technique with the Kristal Klear and food colour. Ever since then I’ve had both among my paint supplies. 🙂
I’ve never painted a ‘nid in my life, but I put a few of these techniques to good use in other games. Also, I’ve always found watching John’s painting videos to be quite relaxing.
Very nice tutorial. I must try this light-to-dark approach, because usually I work the other way around. And layering on highlights can take a lot of time.
Good thing I have a bitz-built Hive Fleet still waiting to get painted.
Great tutorial! What about using Tamiya Clear Red instead of mixing up the final red wash?
