Seriously quick and looking seriously effective lol
Very nice job
idd nice job as always Romain. Now that you have the spraying box out could you show us how you prime a mini b4 u go on to do a wonderful job of painting it
Cool, another video just in time for me to paint my necrons! Some nice tips there, although I’m gonna go for a sort of Ancient Egypt crossed with terminator 4-dark metal-style look. So tarnished looking golds and blues on gunmetal. Mostly cos I’ve always wanted a load of terminators lol. Just came across this on my facebook page about painting metal effects. It’s the Stan Winston School youtube videos, of the Terminator puppets and effects fame. It seems there will be uncut videos once the school is open-but I don’t know if they are charging for it or if it’s… Read more »
Bugger my embedded video didn’t show up lol. Here’s the link http://www.youtube.com/user/StanWinstonSchool#p/u/24/IrAyrV7M_ZA
Nice one, @majordutch ! The scale is different, but I find here some things I’ve been doing on miniatures for a while now… They’ll all be filmed in tutorials eventually !
Cheers Romain! Yep, it’s a different scale but I think the theories still apply. It was interesting to see from the snippet that for a chrome look, it’s best to use a gloss black undercoat. I’m really hoping they put out free to watch videos, but there’s a lot of guys doing the weathering techniques to see on youtube that we can see for free already. I’m just a big fan of the stan winston studio so seeing how they do their work will be really interesting.
I like it, nice video again .
I’m lucky enough to have an airbrush, which makes such a process a lot easier, I may have a go at a squad of something now I’ve seen this, there are some nice models in the new range.
Indeed, with an airbrush, you can do this sort of thing with many colors on many different types of miniatures, and even select the zones you wish to paint… The grain is also much finer… Airbrushes have definite advantages. They are expensive, but if you’re doing a lot of tabletop painting, or even above tabletop level, it’s a sound investment that will save you quite a bit of time ! However, I’m talking to the guys who don’t necessarily have the money or the time to learn the skills of airbrushing, and who just want to speed paint their new… Read more »
@Romain Where base coating mass amounts of minis is concerned, I would counter that “an airbrush is a bit fine for spraying five minis at a time”, because after watching Brandon Palmer’s The 7 Day Army Painter dvd from coolminiornot (bought off ebay 😉 ), he used an airbrush with a large volume cup and airbrushed 6 valkyries and 52 infantry guard too. Of course this is over a week and he does this as his job, but if you have the money and right airbrush, and a proper area to work in, you can. But I don’t lol So… Read more »
Oh indeed, an airbrush isnt the answer to everything, if all I did was paint minis, I certainly wouldnt buy one , mine was bought to paint plastic model kits mainly, but I di use it for minis. Where you prime with black, then spray white to mark the highlight areas where light falls, I do that with the airbrush, but I tend to use a few stages, I go from black through blue-grey, dark green, through to a very yellowy green at as the finest , smallest highlight. When you paint over that, especially if you add a bit… Read more »
You do know that with this month’s theme, mechanical marvels, you can enter a model kit you’ve painted, right ?
Be it tank, robot, plane or whatever looks sufficiently mechanical…
Talk about quick. I do my tanks in this fashion. Can’s of paint are good if its a simple job your looking for.
Speed painting at it’s best Romano.
