If you are spraying from a rattle can it can be worth standing it in warm water for 10-15 mins to slacken up the paint. It can ameliorate some of the speckling from thick or older cans.
an interesting subtle affect Romain.
Very nice Romain, subtle transactions of colour. May I say I am very interested in trying out the pearlescent white from Scale 75 . I have been looking for something that fine for a while now. So thank you.
Vallejo do a metal medium 70.521 that can be mixed with a paint to give a subtle metallic shade or on its own to give a transparent metal effect.. It’s about £2.50 for 17ml.. Allows you to make a metallic shade of your choice.. I’ve not tried it thru the airbrush as of yet thou so not sure how fine the metallic pigment is
Hey Romain If you have ever watched any of my video feedbacks you will know how crazy I am about people painting white, and how it always shows a lot of skill and you have a lot of skill on display here… however, I don’t think most people will see it. I know this is going to sound really frustrating, but hear me out, starting out with a miniature like the one presented which is just primed white, a lot of people aren’t going to get it. I think that this video is invaluable, the techniques shown and such, but… Read more »
More cameras, more angles, are unfeasible, as I’ve said before. Showing off the model at the end is always done… if you want a 360° shot ask Lance or Justin to do some after I’ve gone back to Paris, as it requires completely resetting the lights and set… it would be grand, but don’t get your hopes up, as filming time is scarce as it is ! 🙁 The filming conditions are already the best we can possibly have, and every season we fiddle with the settings to provide the best experience possible. As for painting the rest of the… Read more »
No problem. love your stuff like I said I am only giving cause I think some people may skip due to thumbnail and not seeing results.
Also quick bit, I wasn’t saying more angles/cameras, just some shots where the model was shown without the brush on it for a short period of time and a split shot (edited video) showing that comparing with the shot before.
Usually you wouldn’t need this, but white is so subtle compared to most other projects.
Perhaps this could be arranged… I’ll pass it on.
Sounds awesome 😀
Like I said I really think whit is a true test of painter 😀
Excellent video as always, Romain! Very useful and I disagree that there’s room for improvement here. Your videos are the best mini painting tutorials on the internet!
thanks for showing a little of the scale 75, I can use all the help you can give me in understanding the range. I picked up the colours because lots of good painters were singing its praises. it didn’t occur to me that I might have to know what i’m doing to use it. I will soldier on as it will hopefully force me into becoming a better painter. I’m painting sad today as I finally got my airbrush up and running to find that the paint was backing up into the trigger mechanism. apparently my seal is faulty and… Read more »
Thak you… and I feel for you ! Mind you, I only have a cheaply asian-made airbrush at home, it suffices for my modest needs… but the ones in the studio are fantastic.
Scale 75 is an amazing range, but if you’re not doing glazes over glazes over glazes, or subtle airbrushing, you’re not going to get the most of it… When doing most projects, I tend to use other brands for washes, dry-brushing, and basecoats.
thanks for the advice
Thanks for the kind words everyone ! White is difficult to film, that’s for sure…
Its great getting the tips to help us normal people get better and even try something we would of never tried,
The tip today I’ve taken in is putting on the brush as little as possible, well my heavy handedness is a problem but more watching you and more trying myself, a few people have said I’m getting much better.
Big thanks to you.
