Yes, yes it was.
I’ll try and speed it up with an airbrush…
Lovely work.
OMG when you say its simple,
“Oh No, It Is’nt”…
Well, it’s doable, really. But thank you, you are kind !
art to die for I have been informed that the little red sables are killed to make kolinsky brushes 🙁 I’ve used Windsor and newton synthetics before but compared to the series 7 there is a huge difference in the quality. its not the problem it once might of been thanks to airbrushing, just need a 0 and a 1 really, but its left me at a disadvantage and painting is tough enough as it is. any advice on brushes would be greatly appreciated as people tend to just talk of synthetics as a whole before going into detail about… Read more »
Yes, the pelts of a non-endangered species of farm vermin is used to make brushes… Just like horse hair, pig hair, and so on. I don’t see any problem with that. If you insist on refusing to use any product that comes from something that was once alive, I don’t know how you can survive… Seeing as plants are also alive, and our cousins by DNA, and that they eat of the corpses of animals and their vegetal cousins alike. Synthetic brushes, made with the corpses of dead species of birds and reptiles, are actually quite good these days :… Read more »
I assume you also didn’t know that a lot of the paints one uses for miniatures are derived from animal pigments (Garance red, from crushed beetles, for example), that animal products are used at most stages of production for most modern products… including flat screens, such as the one you’re probably watching this website on. While you’re at it, you could be interested to know that most of the miniatures and books out there (the ones drom GW at least, from kickstarters, and a lot more) are produced in China. We all know that human rights are so well maintained… Read more »
guess i’m out then
turns out I can get acrylics and brushes that don’t use animal products so I won’t have to give up painting.
i’m practicing Buddhist and your projected ideas about how I view things are well off the mark,
really disappointed in your assumptions and tone.
I asked the same question earlier this week and no one saw fit to respond in the manner you did. It was a genuine question that I thought you actually might help me with and mentioning the context seemed appropriate. I at no point said anything about yours or anybody else’s choices or view.
I tend to react badly to all forms of religion, when they’re obvious… and to wording such as the one you employed : “art to die for I have been informed that the little red sables are killed to make kolinsky brushes”… I think trying to make people feel silly is better than trying to make them feel guilty, but to each his own. I have answered your question nonetheless.
your so wrong and deluded in your answer on so many levels that explaning it to you would require an essay which i’m not inclined to give.
I’m sure I am.
Ooo that looks good and with a slight alteration will work for Alien or Genestealer cultists Romain.
Thanks again Romain, I was wondering how you would approach this one. As always you made it seem “not too difficult” . It was good to see how you’d 1) approach a complex design and 2) the colour palette you use for Cryx using Army Painter (I am a recent convert to Army painter and I love the smoothness of their range) Thanks again, Are you going to do the Retribution, as that could be a tricky one? If you do i’ll be fascinated to watch. Cheers
Challenge accepted ! 🙂
Good man … I can’t wait to see it done 🙂
