interested to see how you pre shade do you use an airbrush ?
Here, it’s just spray cans… Even at home, I save the airbrush for big projects.
Spray cans give a slightly rougher look, but everyone has them and they don’t take ages to clean. And this is quite sufficient, especially for the rank and file !
I’ve successfully pre-shaded display pieces with this method, with spray cans. Even though it starts out slightly less smooth, it’s not a big issue.

Thanks, mr big blue yonder ! The film quote is from “The Producers”, both the 1968 and the 2005 version. And, yes, in France, brushes are male, cities are female (except when adressed by their proper name, in which case it’s mostly male but it depends)… paint is female, as is the miniature. However, a wash is male, a glaze is male, as are most techniques (even if the word “technique” is feminine). And so on. It’s really confusing, and there’s no rule. It’s secretly a trap for anglo-saxons. A bit like your “Custard” and “Mustard”, words that I suspect… Read more »
