Thank you Romain, that was once more very educating and entertaining. I learned a lot and i hope i’ll be able to use some of it the next time i paint a miniature. And i’ll make sure to watch it again one or two times just to hammer it in my brain 😉
And you’re doing such a beautiful job on her! And i totally agree: Captain Harlock rocked!
Great tutorial as always, Romain. I’m loving how this is coming out!
Painting eyes is so intimidating to me. My models end up looking a bit doofy because of them. Do you have any tips for simple eyes that won’t distract from the rest of the face too much?
Thanks!!
Thanks a lot ! 🙂 This is an odd question, because the better your eyes are, the less distracting they will be… I think the simplest way to do eyes well enough that they don’t stand out depends on the type of eye. Many miniatures have eyes that are just a slit, really, because the miniature is frowning. At some scales, it can be difficult to paint as there’s not much surface. In that case, you can manage by simply not painting the eye, and just using a black wash in the crease. This is becoming more and more rare,… Read more »
Thanks Romain! I’ll definitely try moving the pupil/iris. I usually end up putting them directly in the middle for a very zombified look.
she’s looking great, do you take anything with you when you visit the guys or just use the paints they have in the studio Romain.
Thanks !
I use my own brushes, files and knives (idiosyncracy, I’m afraid) and I bring my scale75 and P3 paints, but all other tools and paint brands I use are from the studio. They have a whole range of Vallejo Air and more, so there’s no point in bringing my own ! 🙂
completely understandable on the tools front I hated people using my paint gun at work and locked it away when I used the company’s guns.
as always you make me pick up brush immidiately! ( cant wait to summer to end and send my little one to shool to have time to do so) thx Romain
Glad you liked it, guys ! I love this range ! 🙂
3 colours up, a place of peace and tranquillity. so good I watched it twice.
Is this a Jungle 2 Jungle reference?
Love the painting tutorial! Fantastic job on this model, looking forward to more painting tutorials in the future.
i am starting to love watching your videos. you remind me of Bob Ross a lot.
It really is starting to come together.
I just love how you’ve done her hair and face. She’s turning out to be one stunning girl. Thanks for sharing your insights with us. As always I learn a lot.
