Games Workshop Painting Tutorial: How To Paint Skitarii Rangers
April 2, 2015 by brennon
Another painting tutorial has popped up online from Games Workshop showing off how to paint our new favourite Warhammer 40,000 army, the Adeptus Mechanicus, and especially the Skitarii Rangers!
Check out the video above where Duncan Rhodes takes you through every technique that goes into painting this new fantastic looking army from Games Workshop. I think we've found our new house army here at Beasts of War!
What do you think?

A other great painting tutorial from GW.
These little fellas look like so much fun to paint! Really tempted to start yet another army!
*sigh*
nice tutorial but why on earth do they always insist on fully building the model before painting? These Skitarii are a prime example of where painting and building in stages would make life so much easier – you’d get a far better result on the cloak and the legs if separated.
Agreed.
I don’t know if I’m just missing something obvious but, in the few short years that I’ve been in the hobby it has always seemed like magic and witchcraft to me how people can paint assembled models.
Try as I might there is no way i could reach all the details and corners if I assembled the miniature entirely before painting.
Painting it in pieces is the only way I can manage, unless it’s a very simple one piece miniature or something to begin with.
Either way, solid tutorial as always and a very cool looking army that I’m tempted to buy myself.
Where as I have always assembled my minis before painting them. I am a gamer first and painter secon- … make that like tenth! …and I have played a dozen games with them before the paintbrush even makes it to the table. 🙂
You are correct of course, it is far easier to access details for some miniatures before full assembly but these tutorials do seem to have the gamer in mind over the painter, and in my mind are designed to encourage those gaming with unpainted minis to give it a go!
Excellent tutorial. This is the kind of stuff GW used to be known for (useful hobby info) and it’s good to see it back. Bought my first GW minis in a couple of years today and these Rangers are on my short list.
Duncan is great.
A good video the figures look great painted.
