Git, you make it look so easy 😉
Thank you ! That’s because it is.
I was hoping to get a good tip on the beautiful red foundation… 😀
Yesterday I airbrushed my Rumbleslam figs red, looked great, but the minute I applied the GW red wash everything went horrible…
@elendro use a green wash for shading red, or if your using an airbrush preshade with a brown like vallejo’s burnt umber, and build the red up in very fine layers over it…
i do same burnt amber is one of my fav colours for fundation, before i do red or rust.
The red foundation is nothing special… just use red over white. For tutorials about reds, look at my red armour tutorial (I’ve also done a few different reds over the years).
I can’t recommend the GW washes… they’re interesting, but you have to use them for what they were made, and that’s certainly not basecoats !
I think I expressed myself not the best way….
I airbrushed the mini with vallejo air red, and I was really happy with it, as it managed to be a light coat, but still covering everything needed.
Only after that came the red wash 😀
Usually i work myself up from browns, but that result makes a lot more dulled down result, I wanted something really bright now, more cartoony.
Oh. It’s an odd way of doing things… It shouldn’t look TOO bad. However, the GW washes are very glossy. If you’re clever, you don’t use too much of them, you highlight afterwards, and then you spray some matte varnish over the whole thing.
a nice simple tutorial Romain, the feathers may represent the ten captains of the blood-angels?
Possibly. I honestly have no idea…
Thank you for the kind words !
Oh … that is so effective……with 40K stuff… the few times I do it I always reach for the transfers … but .. I don’t know ….. I should give this a go. While I can’t see myself doing shoulder pads , this would be fabulous on a tank or standard… Sincere thanks again Romain, each of these I see I grow a little more confident. Cheers
a personalised chapter banner would look great and special. @beardragon14
It IS nice! Beautiful job as always. And once again I come away from this tutorial having learnt something 🙂 Thanks Romain
Thanks everyone ! It’s a pleasure to be of use.
great job mate, great series, looking forward for more.
I’ve missed watching your tutorials lately Romain
@elromanozo I love watching your work, it is both humorous and most informative, my thanks.
takes me a lot more patience and corrections when i freehand but this was fun.
I almost wonder if Romain did his own tattoos…. I think he could! :p
