3CU Warmachine – Painting Black Armour With Dallas
May 18, 2017 by crew
Today Dallas from Privateer Press joins us to teach us how to paint Black Armour using the P3 Paints.
Painting black can be difficult but the trick is in the highlights as Dallas expertly demonstrates on this fearsome Cryx Seether.
You may notice that Dallas uses two brushes to layer his paints, this is a great technique which is shown in the previous video seen here.
What colours do you dislike painting?
Dallas mate, you the man.
something for everybody here. from the 60/70% coverage when painting black, through the colour choices depending on the black your after, to the glorious technique you display in the application.
content I will not only watch but will watch time and again. thanks again and keep them coming.
Thanks! It’s amazing how much info is in something so simple 🙂
Great video queue the stones.
?
Excellent way to paint black, even without an airbrush ! Those blending skills are superb.
My own preferred successive glazes techniques are a lot more time-consuming over black, so I usually start with a grey basecoat and shade it, if I ever have to do pure black (which isn’t very often, actually).
I’ll definitely be trying this, and not just for black. You can’t argue with the results !
Thanks!!!
That’s why we use that 2 brush blend. It’s fast and gets great results. I definitely do light grey then shade down from time to time.
Very nice tutorial, I liked it a lot.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
oh i hate you people, in the most loving way. As 30 years of painting and only within these last few years looking how you paint and the tips you give, my painting, at last, has come on leaps and bounds.
Hail the internet
And thanks to you all.
I wish I had the internet when I was learning how to paint. It has made info so much easier to get. 😀
Beautiful result. Makes me wanna go try some black armor
