In this episode Dallas is explaining the excellent Two Brush Blending technique in which Privateer Press paints are well known for, by blending the paints together you can extract the undercoat of the paint creating excellent gradients from one colour to another.
Have you tried the Two Brush Wet Blending Technique?
Tried this technique without knowing what I was doing without success, but now it has been explained I’m ready to give it another go. Especially as I don’t have the facilities to use an airbrush.
Patience, practice, and perseverance…thats the goal 🙂
next time he’s here, you kidnap him. potcheen if he’s a drinker, if not crack him with the shillelagh. possibly both, looks like he might put up a fight.
I never understood the two brush method until today, mind blown.
encore.
No shillelagh needed 🙂
Is it wrong that I want to start an army of god botherers … er sorry … Menoth after seeing this . You guys are killing me …. I may have to quit work to get enough time to hobby (wait … that doesn’t work …..bugger)
nice tutorial …have to say Dallas Sounds like Kenny B from next level painting…lol
Masterful.
If, at some point in the future, anyone looks back searching for a particular point at which I, as a presenter of a certain format, became obsolete, this is that video ! 😉
I was simply supplanted by a better, beardier, balder, quieter, more bespectacled and more earringed fellow. And he’s much more legitimate than I am, talking about P3.
i need at least two bearded, bald, quiet , bespectacled , earringed fellows showing me how to paint. in fact best get John to have his ears pierced to be on the safe side.
@elromanozo no way you are still required, you have taught us so much and you have I am sure so much more to teach us.
@elromanozo you are not replaceable!
Naw…we are double trouble 😀
@elromanozo never! Dallas could never top your outrageous French accent.
Supplanted?? Obsolete?? You?? Never, my friend. Never. 🙂
This was awesome! Thank you so much for presenting this!
More to come 🙂
Mind blown. Just out of curiosity anybody knows what brushes Dallas uses?
I use P3 brushes and water colour brushes
It seems awkward painting on that stand he’s using
The stand is used by all the painters to try to keep the topic in frame and in focus
I had never used one of these before. It was awkward at first, but I soon got accustomed to it. Really helped me keep the mini in camera view 🙂
Trust us on this one : the stand, or BBC (for Big Black Can, of course ! You’d have a dirty mind to suggest otherwise) was born out of years of trying to get the settings better and better, the better to frame the miniatures and zoom in on the teachable details.
Terrific video, thank you so much. Concise and to the point.
Thanks!
Great video, so glad to see this technique presented clearly and concisely. I have not had the patience to try this before, but will absolutely now!
Give it a go! It is a practiced technique, so take your time and do not shoot for perfect…just good enough and done 🙂
Thanks for the comments guys! I am happy that this video has been helpful 🙂
If you have any question, feel free to ask 😀
Great video! I really enjoyed the time spent in every part of the process, that´s something not necessary in Duncan´s way of painting but here it is very important. Thank you for the video!
looks a complicated process difficult to master.
Patience, practice, and perseverance.
Give it a go. Practice on a piece of plastic card to get used to it. It will not be perfect at first, but it becomes one of the fastest ways to paint a smooth blend once you get it.
It’s not that hard. I suggest using a little bit of medium at first, so as to slow the drying time. Once you get some practice in, you won’t need it ! 🙂
excellent video once again Dallas.
Thank you 🙂
