Taking shape nicely. Look forward to part 3.
nice tutorial that can be used for lots of models in many armies cheers @Roman
Great video once again, looking forward to the next chapter.
Thanks guys ! Not much left to do, but that’s the part where the mini really comes alive…
nice effects romain, I take it the dilute white wash slowly absorbs? or is it dilute enough to blend so effectively on the ice. When first painted it looked a striking, dare I say obvious contrast, but as it dried it “dulled” or absorbed the coloured underneath to become an amazingly subtle highlight. Your skill makes me very envious……I am still learning how to achieve the effects like that. Sometime it works, sometimes its a disaster…….
Thanks ! We’re all learning… “Failing” is how we make progress, accidents is how we find new stuff ! 🙂
You see, the paint underneath was still fresh and wet, so it melted right in. It’s a very small-surface application of the wet-on-wet technique. I will increase contrast later, but I needed to have some gradient here. The effect I was looking for was dark water underneath sheens of ice, and a large bunch of ice emerging upon which Sorsha is standing.
This just looks amazing, I though what you have done last week was really good. Can’t wait to see what you do in part three.
loving how the ice block is coming up, and I’m becoming a convert to the very thin paint glazes. Got some great results with that pre-brushing technique you did in Technique toolbox
Hi, I was just wondering what brand or brands of brushes you were using for this video?
I think I was using Raphael. That’s what I mostly use… Not that any other brand would change anything, as long as the brush keeps its point.
If you need to, use the search engine and other tools to locate my articles on brush care and how to pick brushes, and brush reviews, published right here on Beasts of War ! They’re a bit old, but they’re still here ! 🙂
Augh! I finally got to watch this. Usually I watch them right away, but it’s been a hellish few days. Nothing like some Romain painting to calm you down and reestablish some focus. Seriously, whether you’re painting at the moment or not. I think my blood pressure drops 20 points just watching these videos. 🙂
Now if I can just get my BoW backstage fee covered under my medical insurance . . . 😀
What’s next ? Faith healing through painting tutorials ? And how long before religious snake oil salesmen offer me a deal ? 😉
What would almost be worse is if people started abusing this new medical breakthrough by self-medicating like with zanex or prozac, becoming “Romain Dependent.” You’d have to have rehab clinics and counselors . . , Man, see what you started? 😀
If that’s true, I don’t get nearly enough money out of this… lol :p
I’m getting an issue where the audio continues in the background while the video stutters. It happens every few mins. Using safari on an ipad 2 on ios 7.1.1
Not the most stable of connections… Could it be network related ? Just my grain of salt, seeing as it plays just fine on my PC on Windows 7 with Chrome, with decent DSL.
I wondered about my broadband but to be honest I have no issues with other streaming from elsewhere. I checked to see that the video had buffered sufficiently and it is stuttering even with some buffer in the bank so to speak. My guess is this is a quirk of the new video delivery that BoW are using, particularly as these issues are since the change/experiment.
As long as it’s being looked into I don’t have much complaint but clearly there’s only so long I can justify paying if the videos become frustrating to watch on my setup.
Sorry ! These things happen with new setups. It IS being looked into, of course ! 🙂
Wow, that looks like a figure from a very nice aquarell-stile comic book! Looking forward – like many – to the last part.
love it i want a whole kador army done in this winter white jacks would look awsome. damb my bank account.
A great paint job on a fabulous figure Romain will look great in a D n D Icewind dale game.
