Infinity Sneak Peek: Yan Huo Invincibles – Heavy Support Fire Regiment
June 23, 2015 by dignity
We've got another awesome Sneak Peek from Corvus Belli for the world of Infinity and this time it's a miniature for Yu Jing. See what you think of the Yan Huo Invincibles with some very big guns!
Supporting Fire!
Their name, the Yan Huo, is based on the word for 'Firework' in Chinese with the characters for smoke, fire, rage and anger. It's certainly a fitting name considering the amount of firepower they can bring onto the battlefield.
"The incredible pyrotechnics unleashed by the members of this unit are as spectacular as they are fearsome. The firepower of a single Yan Huo could be used to raze a small country to the ground.
The operational maxim of the regiment is the overabundance of ordnance, and in that spirit they have a close relationship with Yungang, the primary arms contractor of Yu Jing, who always make sure to supply the Yan Huo with the bigger guns in their catalog."
The models themselves are very impressive with some cool looking chunky power armour giving them the support they need to fire their weapons mounted atop the shoulders.
"The exchange of fire is no longer counted in the seconds, but is accelerated into painful milliseconds. Round by round, strike by strike, their enemies fall one by one, unable to believe what rains down upon them; thunder and lightning, the flashy, deadly fireworks of the Yan Huo Regiment."
I like the addition of the extra stabilising 'wings' that they have on their backs which no doubt aid with stability when firing.
Will you be getting these deadly killers?
Big weapons on awsome looking minis! A win in my book.
these look amazing 😀
Mighty badabumm, gentlemen. I like that.
Be nice to use against my Terminators….
Yikes! YuJing now looks the role of a dominating mechanized force…
I like the armour/backpack but dislike the shoulder mounted guns. Even with the bulk of the armour the gun looks too big/heavy and if the guns have recoil the guy would be knocked on his ass every time he’d try to fire. I’m ambivalent about these minis.
Gotta disagree with you on this point, they quite obviously have recoil thrusters and extendable supports/balance struts… I think, as far as mechs with huge cannons on their shoulders go, these are pretty realistic to the setting
…it’s quite easy to negate recoil!
I’m not all that fussed wrt how realistic this is, but I’m not a great fan of this design of having huge guns on the shoulders. I think it looked better in the artwork vs how it has actually come out.
Personally I’d have preferred them to carry the weapon similar to the Haqqislam Special Deterrance Group Azra’il or the Morat Sogarat Feuerbachs (few what a mouthful), although I’m happy to concede this shoulder design is to help differentiate Yu Jing heavy infantry from those of other factions.
Woohoo, Yu Jing, I need these. My life will be incomplete until I have them.
I can’t believe that I’m about to say this, but….
I think that the gun is too long!
Not a problem, just need to shorten it by a section – easy peasy.
Definitely getting one though.
I need 10 years more practice to paint like this…*sigh* Those minis look almost completly different with such an amazing paint job.
Wow. That looks even better than the other Yan Huo (which i also loved). I may end up with two of these… 😀
very cool 🙂
Nice, I just wish there was resculpted Wu Ming and a ZuYong box
While I do like the direction the modeling has taken in the last couple Yu Jing releases, I worry that they are beginning to look a lot like the Pan-O Military Orders. The sculpts are amazing though and I will absolutely be getting a couple, at least. A bit of creative filing and cutting can introduce at least one different model. I think we are on the verge of a very different looking Infinity, as far as the models are concerned, and I think that can be a good thing. Great work CB , keep it coming.
